Transmission question....
I am sorry if this a re post but here it is anyway.
Looking to change the oil in my infiniti 6mt.
I looked in the serivice manual and i found out what kind of transmission fluid i need but it dint no say how much.
I was wondering where could i get this manual transmission oil and how much do i need to change it out.
as always thank you

That's not readily answered. There are three incremental levels of service interval frequency, the highest being "recommended", but not required. The next two are stipulated depending on the driving conditions the cars typically sees. To the best of my knowledge, only the recommended (Premium) maintenance schedule call for a tranny gear oil change at 30K miles, while the "Service 1" and Service 2" schedules do not even call for it in the first 120k miles listed in the owner's maintenance service booklet.
That being said, the VERY first thing out of the mouth of the technician I spoke with about my tranny (replaced under warranty at 49k miles for bad 5th gear synchro) was "Was the 30k service performed? " and "What oil was used?" I had done it myself and used Redline MT90 which he confirmed was fully acceptable. I do not know if I hadn't done it if they may have balked, but regardless, even the factory service manual only shows inspections to the tranny oil for the first 60k miles, so I think they would have had to honor the warranty even if I had not done the 30k replacement. Bottom line (for me), I recommend doing it, but technically it is somewhat of a personal choice issue.

^ matic S is only for ATs and NOT for MTs.
Get the Nissan MTF 75W90, i got mine from nissan dealership on sale for $9.99 each, i got 4 bottles. as for amount just keep pumping until it starts pouring out of the fill hole then wait a few minutes for it to stop dripping and youre all done!

DO you mean different fluids between manuals and automatics? ![Confused2](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/confused2.gif)
manuals simply use oil to bathe and lubricate meshing gears, automatics use hydraulic fluid (under pressurization) to actually propel the car (the engine in a manual connects fairly directly (gear to gear) to the rear wheels, whereas the engine in an auto pretty much powers a fancy hydraulic pump system that drives gears that propels the car)

^ ya you should, and even though the oil might seem ok when you drain it, it has most probably lost all its additives and thus making it less effective in its protection factor. Also make sure you do the rear diff which is an easy change and a must at every 30k or even less since its a cheap service imo if you push your car every now and again, when you drain it you'll see why i say that.

Technically I would change them every 25-30k miles, i bought my car from a dealer and Im 95% sure the lady that previously had it didnt take care of it, mine is at 45k miles but im getting it done this saturday, along with the differential fluid change too
and btw dont you need 6 qts for the tranny ?
