Burning smell driving uphill

Not sure how many of you have experienced the big climb up on I-280 west in NJ between exits 8 and 10, but the majority of the time I drive up that hill, there's a burning smell in the cabin. Is that considered normal or abnormal? It happens in my wife's RAV4, too. I drive up the hill around 65 mph. My G35x doesn't struggle with it as there's plenty of power and I can accelerate if I needed to. But because of the smell, I keep it at constant speed. I sometimes wonder if it's one of the cars in front of me that's creating the burning smell and it just gets in my airflow so I smell it later.

^^ that's a possibility (that it's the other cars), but it could also just be that any oil or other fluid that has leaked could be running backwards and dripping onto a hot surface and burning off when you are running uphill.
