So today got pretty bored at work and was looking around on the site and seen what other people did with plasti-dip.

This weekend or sooner i am going do my grill and my rear emblems ...( went and spend 7 dollars on a can of plasti-dip)

will post pics

now my question is has anyone attempted to do the lights with plasti-dip. tailights headlights...

i used vht night shade on my last car and loved it but i was also curious could i use a clear coat of plasti-dip and then use the vht.

thx guys

plastidip has a weird texture & feel to it & it's matte so I don't think it would look good on lights...

dont do it on your lights, i think its fine for emblems and grill but it would look out of place on lights as g35grn said it has a bit of texture to it.

I would say give it a shot, because if you dont like it you can peel it off whenever you want! I'm in for pics if you do it haha

^ there is none possible imo, if they were to make one it would be a very hazy whitish 'clear', i think hes just talking about applying a separate clear coat on top of the plasti-dip for testing

No I know they have it, just dunno where to get it lol its clear (and I would guess out is hazy like you said) and you can get colors and mix them in but I guess you have to order online cause home depot doesn't have it

updat. i ordered a $15 can of the clear PD off eBay and tried spraying it on my bumper for a clear bra effect. i failed. i didnt realize 1 can wouldnt be nearly enough. (without enough layers of PD, you cant peel it off.) so i ended up using another 2 cans of black just to get it off.

but anyway, i found out that clear PD when on black paint, turns kinda white hazy looking...

I have tried the taillights out of curiosity and it looks like **** and it also not very transparent. You could barley see if i was hitting the breaks.

So plasti dip only comes in black? I plan to plasti dip my emblems and grille and stock rims for now but if i wanted a color on rims do i just go out and get some spray paint and spray it over the plasti dip? i know if its black I would have to put a couple layers on. Also is there anything else to do to the tire besides cleaning it? Do I have to put anything on before the plasti dip?
