I am a new owner of a 2008 G35S - after driving a Jeep Cherokee for several years, it's been a pleasure driving this car!

There are a few strange things that I've noticed with the car when I start it or turn it off - maybe they're normal, but...

1. When I turn the car on, I get a display on the dashboard showing a key with a "E" and "F". Is this indicating that the battery in my key fob is dying, or is this just a normal indicator when the car is turned on?

2. Sometimes, when I turn the car off, the car beeps like I've left my lights on. Other times, there's no beep. I can't seem to figure out what the beeps are trying to tell me since I never change my light controls (I leave them on auto at all times).

3. Every once in a while, when I start the car, the navigation "warning" message comes on. I have to hit "OK" and then it goes to the map display. I have to hit the "aux" button to get it to go back to the normal display (my iPod control display). This only happens about once every 10 times I start my car, but I can't figure out why it's happening.

 

1) It is a reminder that your better is getting low.
2)Beeps could mean a lot of things; lights, forget to put it in park and etc. Sometimes it could be that you didnt close the door and you attempted to lock it.
3)I can't answer that because i don't have NAV

 

3. the first time it goes to the map interface while the car is running it asks you to click ok on the warning message first.

 

Warning message on nav is normal..i get it as well

 

2. the beeping has fooled the best of us.....most likely that you opened the door before shutting the car off.

 

1). Battery on your key is low, change it, its annoying.
2). I dont pay attention to the beeping
if lights shut off ... your good.

Yes, that drives me crazy. I've realized that I must open the door and get out the split second that the car stops. Because I practically open the door and shut the car off at the same time. Half the time it beeps at me until I'm out of the car and shut my door.

The REALLY annoying beep is if you lock the driver's side door with the handle before all of the rest of the passengers have closed their door. That one is loud. Or if you're getting something from the backseat, open the back door, and try to lock it up before you grab whatever it is and shut it.

 

I find on mine that if i put it in reverse the prompt does not show up. Going back into D the screen goes back to the main display. It does the same thing, that is without showing the prompt, if i linger on R long enough on the way to D from P.
