It's me again...

Hey everyone, i dont post that much on the site but i sure do read alot of threads. I posted sometime around june about the deal i got for an 08 g35 with 52k miles for $18k, turns out it was a salvage but dealer said it had a clean title (not an infiniti dealer). Anywho, im moving on and will be going to Manheim auto auction next week to look for a decent priced 08 Sedan. Only dealers can get in, and luckily for me, im going with a friend who is related to a dealer
He has told me he already spotted an 08 with 79k miles for $17k , is that a decent price for a clean sedan, and should i use that info to find a better deal with lower miles? I think im prepared in going to the auction and know what to look for. Will def. get autocheck to check each car (i think its $40 for a month).

I have seen many pictures on here with all the mods and gotta say im scared i might catch the mod bug. I am hoping of only getting tints (if it doesnt have them) , LEDs for interior and plastidip the grill.

I have been looking on ebay for any parts they have if i ever need them and found two great deals for anyone interested in getting them:

An 08 OEM Steering wheel that goes for $200 shipped:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-10...ht_3196wt_1165

Key fob for 20 without Key :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Used-...#ht_500wt_1182

Key fob for 30 with uncut key:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-08...3#ht_901wt_939

Sorry if this was long but as i said, def going this week to auto auction and hope to find a decent price sedan, will i find a good price since its a dealers auction?? how else do they get a profit from auctions?? Also, do you think i will find most 08's because most of the lease cars are ending

Is it a 2008 G35 Base, Journey, X or S that you are looking at for $17k? What options...do you know yet?

Still not sure about any of the options but i am not getting one with that much miles, just wanted to get the idea of how much it would be for having 79k miles so i can better compare prices. I also realize that different options would also affect the price.

Other than looking at cosmetic things (interior trim, sunroof liner, exterior finish, front grille chips) I think you would need to be able to take the vehicle for a test drive look for the most common known issues like odd interior rattles, brake judder and transmission shudder at 60km/hr, etc.

I have been to an auction before and noticed most of the dealers scanning the barcodes on the vehicles, is that to check on the Vin for any issues or is that something else? Would like to know what they use, if not, should i get the autocheck 30 day unlimited vin check for $45?

Ya don't buy a car from an auction, don't buy a car with a salvage title, flood title or that's been previously stolen reguardless of who says "hey nothing wrong I did it" because they either lucked out or haven't discovered their issues Blut and nobody may like it but you asked for GOOD advice

Why not?
My 07x went to auction when I picked up my 2011S a month ago. I properly maintained it mechanically, never abused it, it had 65k km on it, the interior and exterior was almost as good as new (ask anyone here who saw it)
Who wouldn't want it?

I looked at Manheim every day for a month and couldn't find anything worthwhile.

Looked on Cars.com and Autotrader and found much cleaner cars.

Called a few, gave lowball offers, and did a fly and buy with the first person who bit.

With the used car market right now the deals aren't at the auctions.

Look at the MMR and compare it to what the dealers are selling. Figure a couple grand off at the negotiating table and you are much better off.
