Idle issues on occasion while stopped idle seems rough

I have a 2008 G35 idle or missing at times only has 38,000 miles. Took it to dealership three times for this problem. Went to another dealer as well. Still not resolve what should I do? Very disappointed in this car.

So many questions, but I'll start with these...

What has the dealer done when you went in for these visits?
Is the car up on maintenance?
Have you checked the throttle bodies to see if they need cleaning?
Is this the only reason you are disappointed in the car?
Did you just pick it up or did you buy the car new in 08?

I bought it new. The car up to date with a 30,000 maintence which cost me 1200 dollars. Replaced all filters, trans, oil ect... I don't know what throttle bodies are? Is that covered under warranty or something that should of been done on the 30,000 maintence? This car should not run like this

Is your problem only at idle? Are you experiencing throttle lag or lack of power?

Im inclined to say try cleaning the MAF with MAF cleaner. Ive fixed many a rough idle this way.

You are correct, it should not. I think your frustration should be with your dealers though, not the car. Perhaps you should speak with the service manager, general manager, then owner of your dealership. If there's no satisfaction there, then try Infiniti corporate customer service.

One more question: was either dealership able to reproduce the problem? If they were able to, were they then not able to correct the problem after 3 tries? Your car is still under warranty and after three tries to fix it, the dealer should be concerned about a potential Lemon Law return.

Check this out the first dealership I took it to. Had me do maintence which I paid 1200 cleaned cabin filters ect.... filters, changed oil. This did not help. Even said I might put cheap gas in it thats why it's running that way. Issue not resovle there. Took it to another dealer tryed to get me to do a engine flush? and stating a first that's how the car runs? I laugh and said I'm not taking the car until its fixed. They did some work and it was repaired said they will mail invoice. I haven't recieved it yet, so I can't tell what was done. I believe something to do with oil pressure? and said to kept all my records on oil changes?

my G actually started doing the same very recently. Regularly scheduled maintenance as well. Im thinking its gonna be throttle bodies or MAF for me due to the numerous intake swaps Ive done. Hopefully I can find time to attack this.

looks like a trip to the auto store is in store.....

if you have done recent changes it would be wise to clear your ECU through either pulling your battery or using a OBD reader to clear your comp and relearn all the settings, that would probably help out the air/fuel ratios if you have done any changes to the intake tract, otherwise make sure you keep up your maintenance and make sure its allways filled with super. you got decent sized high revving engine with high compression ratio which isnt your ordinary small block chevy that does 80 on the freeway at 2000rpm.

I would start w/ cleaning the MAF sensors and the throttle body. I had the same issue at around the same mileage. Now after couple of years, it's doing it again though. Time to clean these suckers again. This is such a PITA and a tedious job. :(

Update dealer finally resolved issues

It ended up being the throttle chamber was defective? After 2 years. Car was under warranty and only had 25,000 thousand miles when it started giving me problems.

Congrats on the fix finally.

I'm assuming you meant to say the throttle body ? :dunno:

Schuma3955 01-26-2012 12:55 PM

The Service Manager used the term throttle chamber? not body. Thanks for the response.
