Cannot vouch for the AT models but in my 6MT I can consistently get 500 miles from a tank of gas -Just went 509 miles on 19 gal gas (about 28 mpg). Includes 30% stop & go traffic, 70% highway. Comes down to driving habits or whether you have an AT or MT. I have posted some tricks before. Essentially I can make the car a virtual hybrid. It isnt that inconvenient once you get into the habit. Again I dont know how this would work with the AT

Tires and oil probably have something to do with it too. My car now has 85 k miles. Running Mobil 1 0w30 oil (I posted good results on BITOG page a while back). Continental DW tires @ 35 psi.

Above results are with summer gas in the NE and with low rolling resistance summer tires (the conti DWs). When the snow tires go on and winter blend gas comes around I will be lucky to get 23 mpg.

I used to get 12.9 but I don't drive like a maniac anymore so now I get about 14.8

If you haven't, you need to reset both your MGPs for a fair test.

Excuse this if it sounds remedial, but I don't know how much you know yet

The first one is between your tach and speedo. Use the top button to put it on MPG and the bottom to reset. The other is under Info on the big screen above your radio. It should be self explanatory

Honestly, I can't imagine what some of you guys are doing to report such low mpg numbers. Either you're taking EVERY stop sign/light as a 0-60 launch, you failed basic math, or you're just misinterpreting you car's gauges. There's really no other excuse for these cars to be getting such low numbers; SOMETHING is outta whack!

+1

When I drive like a douche I get high teens.

70/30 highway I get low 20s.

Low highway speeds I get 24.

ugh i hate these threads. makes me sooo jelly that ihave like 13.4 and im struggling to get it up until i get mad and floor it lol. idc i got it to enjoy it. Then again i live in NYC, so the stop and go is what messes it up. it all depends on where you live. Suburban areas, you guys are doing like 40's n straight roads so of course your MPGs are good.

So easy to go down, hard to go up =/ (TWSS)

Boy I was going to say the same thing as well, Where you live has a lot to do with it. I live in Chicago and still get good gas mileagebut I dont think it would make a 6 mpg difference......

Ok so it looks like a lot of it may be the horrendous stop and go traffic. Today i finally got to open up a bit on the freeway and cruise for about an hour. Having just reset the mpg thingy (both of them) yesterday, i bumped up on the freeway to 20mpg average on the LCD and on the real time monitor seemed to be getting about 25 for most of the drive.

Btw, I always keep the screen above the wheel on the real time mpg, been using that since day 1. I reset both calculators every week and reset my trip miles every time i fill up. Looks like I'm going to get about 220 miles out of this tank, which wasn't full, more like 15 gallons. So that's an improvement.

I'm still gonna have them look at the filters and the ecu when i take it Tuesday. Though today I think i learned a little about how to maximize my mileage more. I'm going to gun it every now and again... Hell that's why i bought the. Damn thing!... But any time i accelerate, even gently, my mpg drops to about 7 for the duration. I realized that by coasting so much, I ended up having to accelerate a little more after coasting for too long. I managed to find a sweet spot in the pedal, where I can maintain speed and anything above 20mph is giving me a reading of about 23-24 on the real time monitor. Knowing this, I'll see how I can improve my work commute this coming week. Hopefully i can nudge it close to 20 even in the stop and go crap, which I can't emphasize enough, is frickin horrendous.

Wow. I drive like a madman, up and down a 2000ft change in altitude between my house and my office, floor it as often as possible without ramming a car in front of me, never hit the freeway, and I still get 19.2.

Fog it with SEAFOAM! Change your air filters and change to synthetic oil!
