Tune Options?

Hello I'm installing a Stillen Gen 3 intake as well as some test pipes in addition to the minor mods I already have (including BB grounding kit) and I was wondering what are my options for a tune? I have heard about the Uprev Tune, but I do not have the funds for it. Would a tune at a local shop suffice/what else do I need to know?

Thank you, I appreciate your time!

I looked around as well and only found the Osiris Uprev. At least for the HR. Pricey for sure.

Pricey but worth it. most other tuners (bully dog, Hypertech) will run you $400 and offer minimal gains. Uprev not only allows you to change tunes on the fly using your cruise control buttons, but is the only way to tune your ECU specifically for the climate you are in as well as the Mods you have.

Would a tune at a local shop suffice/what else do I need to know?
this would be the same as doing the Uprev tune. you cant just tune an ECU. you have to have a platform to tune it on. that is what Osiris does. There is also COBB but they are about the same cost, and dont have as many tuning locations.

If you do the Uprev, you would go to a local shop that offers it, pay the license fee, and then pay for the dyno tuning time. shop here in houston quoted me about $650 or so.

My advice is to wait until you have a full exhaust (catback plus pipes) and then get it tuned. if youre already dropping the $600 on the Stillen Gen 3 the 6-700 for the tune is going to give you much greater gains than the intake ever will.

yep uprev is the only game left, cobb got out of it for the nissans, they couldn't compete with them. You can still find some used units around though. There is a lot to be gained with the uprev tune, you get the extra maps like econ and valet, low octane, etc. If you buy the cable you can tweak stuff yourself too if you dare, like the rev limiter or how the valet mode works

What about the exhaust? you getting one of those? then you should get your tune. (Unless you don't want the exhaust)

Ok cool I have a better idea of everything now. I was thinking I could get a tune like on the classic cars.. a few dials being tweaked etc. I didn't think it was all in the ECU.I guess I'll look into a tune a little more down the road after a few more possible mods. Thanks all!

I got 30 tq and 17hp out of my tune. At 5500 ft. elevation. However, my tuner raised the transmission line pressure to 70 psi. My regular tech (awesome) told me thats great for my transmission, however it had caused a leak in my pressure line. He caught it while he was performing my tranny flush. He replaced the line and the chincy clamps holding it on with a new hose and worm clamps. He strongly recommends that I replace the other line soon because if it blows off with that high pressure I would be up **** creek.

He also said I can use different maps and access them all through my steering wheel controls. It will cost extra for sure though.
