Exterior bodywork / minor repairs - the 5 year refresh
After five years, the exterior is still in quite decent shape ; I've been as careful as I could re washing, use of microfiber cloths, parking far away, etc, etc)
But after the weekend wash and wax , I of course noticed quite a few things. Some were minor marks - came off with Scratch X ; others I cant (no skill) take care of myself, ie

But after the weekend wash and wax , I of course noticed quite a few things. Some were minor marks - came off with Scratch X ; others I cant (no skill) take care of myself, ie
- a few paint chips
- dents on the edge of driver’s door
- an odd reverse dent in the middle driver’s door (something pushing outward from the inside). Hard to cature in a pic
- two small 'tears' on the read driver side bumper
- some fine scratches
- some small surface rust below trunk lip
Am I best to bring this to :
- the dealers body shop ? ( to be sure paint matches etc. possible freebies re rust)
OR - a collision/repair centre? ( local one has excellent in the past)
OR - a local area detailer?
I would take it to the local collision center if they have a good rep since they will also use the same infiniti paint code as the dealership and blend in just as good considering that most dealerships dont do such work themselves either and have a local shop do it for them. This should be the 1st step to take car of the dents, rust and 'tears' then if you want u can have them 'detail' the car as well to remove the scratches and such or if they are asking too much then just take it to the detailer.
For whats it worth I use Dr. Colorchip and it work fairly well

Its a bit tedious with the tiny brush but well worth the work. I just went over all the little chips on my front bumper this weekend and it looks real good. You cant even see the repaired areas unless you look really close. From a distance the bumper looks spotless.
