Hey everyone I was wondering what I should do about these dumb scratches I just got on my 08 g35x. I got them from my garage door and here is a video from youtube i uploaded from my phone.

You only really have 2 options

Use scratch repair paint which will be noticeable. From a far it won't be noticeable but if someone is close enought they will see something. Or take it to a body shop and have them repair it properly for a couple hundred bucks. You said you wanted to make it " look like it never happened" so a body shop would be your only chance to make it so.

Other than that, can't really think of much else.

you're going to have to get it repainted.

Exact same thing hapened to my G35X a few years ago. My friend/detailer removed it by wet-sanding. This can be done as long as it did not cut into the paint.

When the car was finished it looked better than the day I picked it up new from the dealership.

I think what willdogs said pretty much nailed it. Unless you do some soul searching and decide you can live with a compromise (btw, life DOES go on. ), then a repaint is the best option. Assuming you have the skills/tools/time/inclination, you do have the option of mitigating some of the costs involved by R&Ring the bumper yourself and just taking the loose bumper to a body shop. Sorry for the luck.

you can try buffing it out but if its as deep as "feeling" then it's probably too much. wet sanding might do the job but that's something you have to be very careful with. best bet is to try and buff it but be prepared to have it repainted if you can't live with it.

This is the way I look at the situation.
- you might as well get a detailer (or DIY) to attempt to wet-sand and polish it. You will be able to tell pretty quickly if the wet-sanding will work. If wet-sanding won't work then you are no worse off than you started.
- if wet-sanding doesn't work you will need to get the bumper painted, in which they would have pre-sanded the bumper and the scratched area first anyway.

I'm repainting my bumper this weekend and sanding too.. I got a touch up paint from paintscratch.com that's supposed to match exactly like the OEM color, ill let u know how it works out.... if it works well u should order it too

Btw.... u can also try getting a clear coat pen, filling it in as well. Its not bad enough to warrant a full blown respraying.

I did the same thing but my scratch is much wider and deeper--have not gotten it repaired but it is driving me crazy.

For your scratch, I would try the clear coat pen mentioned. There is one selling at Costco right now that is supposed to work well--DuPont "Pro-fusion color scratch repair pen".
