self-maintenance

A month ago I got my 07 G35x and I'm beginning to run into the question of maintenance. Personally I do not trust the monkeys at shops like mr.lube and the infiniti stealer ship is a bit too far and expensive for my own liking. I already changed my brake pads and air filters as they were in bad shape. I am currently keeping a eye on serpentine belt, engine oil, engine oil filter, tires, battery and transmission fluid. Does anyone know if coolant or brake fluid should ever be changed? If yes how do I tell when they do need to be changed? And is there anything I'm missing on my list that I should be checking periodically? thanks!

Yes they need to be changed as per inifniti's maintenance schedule. Coolant change should be fine around 5yrs/60k miles(as recommended by infiniti). As per brake fluid most change it when the brake fluid turns brown or when the pedal gets 'spongy' but even if it seems clean its good to flush and get new fluid in there to get rid of the moisture in the old fluid.

There is nice little DIY in the diy section by mike on brake fluid change/flush with motive bleeder but can be done without it if you have another person to help you. Coolant change diy without pics is also somewhere here on the forums just search for it
