Question on stock springs

I recently re-installed my stock springs (had H-techs in for a yr prior to this) since I'm thinking of trading my car in for newer G, and noticed that it sits higher than before. I compared it with my friends fully stock G, and it sits approximately 1/2 inch higher. Is this because the springs were decompressed for a while and requires some time to "settle" into its original state??

As stated above I'm probably going to trading the car in, or if not simply putting my H-techs in again so its not a big issue, but just wondering and wanted some info for future knowledge.

Thanks

Guess no one here has a definite answer lol
Did some searching around this and other forums, and some said "yes it requires week or so" and others " no used springs don't need time", while some even stated that "settling" for spring is caused by improper installation and springs don't settle.

I'm no mechanic so can't really say whats correct....

Well remember that the shocks and springs need their break in period. When I got my eibach springs installed. It took about a month or so of driving for it to settle

Yes, my aftermarket springs definitely needed some time for it to completely settle down to where it was designed to be, but didn't really think that any USED spring would also require this as well.

I'm guessing that decompressing and removing any weight from springs for a period of time results in this huh?

Yessir lol
I'm still debating whether to buy the newer G or just keep this one, either way it will be late august. Till then, I guess I'll go around town to pick some fatties up to help the settling.

Cant really say, but I'm guessing that since my stock springs were left out with no compression or force for a while, it requires some time...? Dunno man. I searched and few others were asking the same , either here or other forums, and no definite answer found (thread didn't continue to report any decrease in vehicle height).

That's a good question... I am thinking regardless of the spring is used or not... Every car is slightly different from each own unique. (Remember, not everyone hides body in their trunk ) So, the weight of the car would different, therefore still requiring time to settle the spring to "YOUR" weight of the car.

Hope it helps

Okay it's been a week since I re-installed my stock springs, did about 200 miles with 4 adults in the car, no change in the height yet. I guess I'll update when I hit 1000 miles. And yes, the measurement is not visual (or finger technique), but with a measuring tape so should be pretty accurate.

Update on this thread.

I recently re-dropped my car. Before doing so, checked if there's any height change since the initial re-installment of original springs, and found no change. Guess it doesn't "settle" or whatever you call it.
