Need new Brakes - Rotors and Pads for Rear
So I recently went in to Infiniti for an Oil Change and I was told I needed to get new brakes for the rear, which I already suspected due to them squealing sometimes when I stopped. The rears are down to 2mm
Infiniti wants $290 + tax for just resurfacing rotors and pads. Which seems kind of steep to me. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to get or where to go? I have an 07 G35 Sport Sedan. I would like to upgrade to a BBK later down the road so I don't want to shell out too much right now.

Now that you've said that, he did say to Resurface my rotors and replace the pads. Not installing new rotors. I misspoke.

I got all four rotors, pads installed for around $600. I bought Hawk Ceramic Performance pads and Centric Premium Rotors from amazon for about $380 and then had my local mechanic do it for $250.
I'd say that the dealer charges way too much, and the pads and rotor quality are pretty bad. The OEM rotors warp easily.
Firestone and Infiniti dealers wanted over $1000 to do the same job.

Thanks, I think that is what I am going to end up doing. I want to replace all four sometime soon upgrading to a better aftermarket set. I'm thinking about just getting pads for the rear for the time being and having my local mechanic that's a friend of the family put them on because I highly doubt my rotors are that bad at 48,000 miles.

If you're looking for a quick, inexpensive, short term fix until you replace them, then that's a reasonable approach. But if you're at all expecting that brake work to hold up for any long term, then you should be resurfacing those rotors at a minimum. After 48K miles and wearing down pads to 2mm, it's extremely unlikely that the rotor would not need some attention.

definitely check how bad the lip is on your rotors brakes are definitely an essential thing so its not something to joke around with. With that said usually tirerack and other online shops have decent rotors for a good price and you can just chuck those on if you're just looking to safely buy time. Definitely look on yelp for any decently rated yelp place because doesn't matter if your car is a civic or a high performance car brakes tend to have a universal construction and most mechanics can easily handle the job. Definitely go for akebono bbk upgrade too I found a good deal on the classified and they have been great plus cheaper to maintain than something like brembos or stoptechs
