new owner - few questions

hey guys! since it's my first post i will introduce myself. i'm taylor and just picked up an 07 G35x today with 70k. i'm from the bmw community but the wife and i are having our first child soon so i wanted to get away from the 2dr. after researching cars for a couple months i decided this would be a nice option for us and to still have a luxury feel.

okay enough blabber! first question. in the console there are the 3 aux plugs. can i hook up dvd to that or anything? i do not have navigation but i was wondering if i could make the screen play something other than music and maintenance features.

my second question. is it beneficial for 2 CAI's? i know some cars it increases gas mileage and others it doesn't. as for my bmw it did. will i notice a power difference? and how much would it cost me.

need more info on nismo and price ranges. i only know dinan for bmw. i know my sentences dragged on a little but i appreciate any help and i look forward to learning more from you guys and i will be active in the community!

Welcome to the site & congrats on joining the G community, I think you'll love your new ride. I too had a BMW (02 745Li) and I'm relieved not to have the maintenance headaches, but sweet rides for sure.
I've never viewed anything through those ports but I believe it'll work w/ typicsl video/audio out jacks on a portable player, I think you can only use the inputs when the car is parked.
You'll find Nismo is a far cry from Dinan as far as high performance goes but still something to consider. Many nice upgrades available for the G, but it takes pretty serious coin to get a lot more power from the VQ. I'm sure those w/ some serious investment in their Gs can chime in regarding FI & Supercharging, but I doubt you really want to go that route hauliing the family, but I could be wrong, lol.

I appreciate your help. the BMW is so fun and ultimately has more power than this G but in a different range. the thing that bothers me is how sensitive the pedal gets. it kinda takes a good push for it but then once you get moving power kicks in. i guess i want a faster pedal response. the engine definitely has the power output its just like the delay from hitting the pedal to the throttle body. i didn't know if there was software to change or if there might be an adjustment. make sense? i hope so. also can you change codes in the computer to make it play whenever v.s. just when the car is parked? sorry!!!!!!

I know you're new so . . . (a friendly) FYI: such discussion is taboo on this forum. If you want to keep your thread open, you'll have to pursue this elsewhere.

The 07 has a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that addresses accelerator pedal sensitivity, the dealer should be able to look up your service records to see if it's been applied. I had an 07G35 (prior to my current 09) and applied the TSB and it made it a more linear takeoff, not such a lag and then BAM you're off to the races
CAIs don't really have a huge effect on the VQs compared to a lot of other makes, but they look great in there and sound sweet past 3k rpm.
Yep, a few topics will get shut down pretty quick such as modifications that make your G unsafe, street racing, and talking too highly about BMWs (j/k)
