Hi,

I'm planning to buy a 2008 G35S which, I believe, has staggered tires. It's winter coming up here in Canada and I found almost brand new 4x 235/50/18 Blizzak LM60 for $700. Would they fit without a problem? Btw, is LM60 a good model and is the price OK for that deal?

The tires can fit but are you trying to mount them on your stock S rims or do they come mounted on existing wheels?? If you are putting them on your stock rims then thats where the stagger comes into play, I think they would be fine, just a little stretched on the rear.

 

These are just tires, so I'd be using the existing rims. Would that be dangerous? Would you caution against doing that?

 

i have been searching around for some people that are interested in my blizzaks and from everything i have read you will be fine. i would not caution you against doing that at all but i would check with a local tire shop to verify! good luck

 

I dont think it will be a problem. It is going to look a little strange because your front tires will be slightly bulging and and your rears will be slightly stretched. So it might look like you have smaller tires on the rear but that is probably not a deal breaker for you (I wouldnt really mind for winter).

I will say that I wish I would have gotten 17" rims and tires on my car for the snow (and gone skinnier too). I have 18's at stock widths, they work very well but I think they would do even better if I would have gone smaller and skinnier, plus 17" is a cheaper package.

I bought my snow tires mounted on rims used like you are so there wasnt much to choose. FYI it is feasible to find used snow tires mounted on rims for like $600-$800. It will cost you at least $100 to get them mounted on your stock rims. I dont know if you plan on making your stock rims dedicated snow wheels, if not it will be costly to swap out tires every winter/spring.

 

Thanks to all. I may just buy some cheap generic rims for the winter. Looks are the last priority when you have snow and slush up to your knee.

 

FWIW - I have 4 x 225/50/18 Mich X-Ice Xi2 on all four of my staggered stock wheels that I use solely for a winter tire setup. No problem at all.
The LM60 235/50/18 is a good winter tire and spec'd for a 6.5" to 8.5" rim.
