Tpms

I wanted to see if anyone has experience with the following scenario with TPMS. I have the factory TPMS senors with my summer tire setup and considering buying a new set of winter tires/rims. If the winter setup doesn't have TPMS, the warning indicator will be on for the 3 to 4 months I am using the winters which is okay. The question is when I put back on the summer set with TPMS back on the car, will the car recognize them without a re-learning process? The dealer says in this scenario the car will forget the summer TPMS. Is this true?

I tried searching for this but couldn't find an answer. Thanks

It should pick them right up after you take the winters off

But if not, you can reset the sensors yourself, no need for dealer visit. See the link below:

I actually just followed the steps yesterday and it worked flawlessly.

So, did your system finally flag the new sensors then? or did you just do that preemptively?

I did it preemptively.

The light never came on, while that was all fine, I worried that something was not right and wanted it working 100% if one of my tires went low.

I put my LF tire down to 20LBS and drove around for10-15 minutes to see if it would tirgger my light, it didn't.

So to be on the safe side, I reset my TPMS following the instructions and now everything is working as it should

The reset procedure couldn't be any simpler. The hardest part was driving around aimlessly for about 5-10 minutes while the system re-learned the new sensors.

TIP - I used the inside of my cigarette lighter (Metal) as my ground. Tapped the wire in there 6 times and I was golden.

To my knowledge they should be okay.

Willdog, thanks for the link. Good to hear the process is simple. I was a bit concern about locating the TPMS connector would be difficult. If it recognizes the my summer set, then I am okay with the light for a couple of months.

Considering my 08 Honda Odyssey can automatically recognize a different set of sensor is somewhat dissappointing as my Infiniti cannot which is a premium car line.
