Voice Recognition/Bluetooth problems

I just bought a 2008 G35x and it DOES NOT have the navigation package but DOES have the premium package, so it does have Bluetooth; however, every time I try and set it up (requires you to do so through the voice recognition system) it tells me to “try again” or “consult owners manual.” It seems like it is not hearing me at all, I speak and it doesn’t acknowledge my response what so ever, and seems to time out. I have tried everything! The car is quiet and I speak the on-screen responses very clearly, but the system does not acknowledge anything. I hit the speak I tried to do the Speaker Adaptation thing but it tells me it didn't work. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a way to reset or fix the system? Is it possible my microphone is broken? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought the car over the weekend so I am not sure if the system worked in the past.
