Wiper Linkage....HELP!!!

2008 G35X Sedan

I bought this car for my GF and well I went to move it last night ad the wipers were froze to the windsheild. I accidentaly hit the wiper switch while reaching in to start it.

Today i go get a quote from infiniti to fix it they tell me I have to buy the linkage and the motor at the price of 710$ plus 2 hours labour at 120$ an hour...

Ive done allot of searching found a whole bunch of part numbers but everytime i call my dealer they say the only thing that will fit is what they are recommending.

I dont mind paying a little money to fix this I can do the work myself the problem is paying 720$ because a little teflon bushing decided to crap out seems a little steep to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I need this fixed ASAP.

Thanks,

Have you dismantled it to see what specifically needs to be replaced? Did the dealership give you the breakdown of the parts that you need, or just a bill. I would push to get the part numbers from them and then look for an IPB online somewhere and see if it makes sense or if they are replacing a major assembly for a minor failed part. Also, you might consider 'fixing' whatever part failed. IS it just a matter of replacing a bushing and straightening the arms out again? Another whole avenue of approach is to shop it from an auto dismantler (wrecking yard). Alternatively, you can sometimes find cars being parted out on Craigslist or Ebay. If the dealer is giving you grief and withholding information to pressure you into having them fix it, push right back and make note of the fact that you have basically paid them for diagnostics up to this point, and the info you are seeking is basically the product of that diagnosis ( that you've already paid for).

BTW, my sympathies to you for messing up your GF's car. BTDT

She's not very happy....hahaha

Nothing is bent the end that goes on the motor/gear assembly popped off and the Teflon sleeve is chipped so it wont stay mounted anymore.

Im going to pulled it completely off the car tomorrow and do a temp fix until I find a replacement at a suitable price.

Infiniti will not sell just the sleeve they will only sell me the full assembly B.S. if you asked me but the parts guy said thats all he could do.

Ill take some pictures tomorrow and post them on here.

Here's a quick google result. It gives a part number for the motor with the linkage here:
http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/Item...053-196046.htm
It's still way expensive, but is a whole lot better than $710, so it moving in the right direction. It also gives an indication that a used one should be significantly less than that yet. BTW, this is probably the exact same factory part that your dealer was quoting for you; the markup is shameless.

Yah I was talking to that guy about the part its allot better pricing for sure. Problem is I beleive he is in Arizona and I am in northern Canada. Probably take like 3 weeks to ship it here.

Im going to use my trusted old website today and try an locate the parts I need.

Here's the link if you ever need it http://www.car-part.com/

Anyone Know if the linkage from a 2009 and up G37 will fit a 2008 G35X??

In 2010 you can buy just the linkage without the motor for 152$. Part:28840-JK61A

In 2008 you cant buy it seperate you have to buy the motor the cheapest ive found is 407$. Part:28800-JK600

2007-2008 G35's share the same linkage part number and you have to buy the whole assembly to replace a broken one.

2009-2012 G37's have a different part number and the linkage can be purchased without the motor.

The set-up looks exactly the same...

I have no idea what part is broken, but I am getting ready to fix my Subaru wipers with a bushing from this kit:
Amazon Amazon

You can find the kit at Autozone too. None of them actually fit my subary, one of the bushings needs to be cut a tiney bit to make it fit, but it beats buying a whole new wiper linkage assembly.

Ok,
so there's not much in these really,
Wiper Motor With Linkage if you need linkage, you have to get the whole stinking thing
28800-JK600 $410.00
Wiper Arms 28881-JK600 and 28886-JK600 $35.00 each
I can post a pic if you want to see a breakdown of it also
