CF card problems

I am going crazy. I put a bunch of MP3s on my CF card and it says that no audio files detected. I verified that they were MP3s and they work fine when the card is plugged in to my computer. Any ideas?

Is this a new card or did you use it before? Make sure the card is formated FAT32...not NTFS or something different. Also, do other CF cards work? I know I have 5 or 6 on hand that i can try.

Also there is a maximum amount of songs you can put on the card before it won't read any.
I looked quickly but couldn't find it when I searched.

To add some info. If you have the navigation the CF reader will only read a max of 512 songs. If you do NOT have integrated navigation the CF reader will read a max of 999 songs. The card has to be formatted to FAT32 and MP3's on the card should work just fine. If you put more than the max allowed, the extra songs will just get ignored. You most likely need to format the card correctly.

Maybe I reformatted the card by accident when I added some songs. It's worked fine before. I'll try reformatting.

I had a weird issue to when i tried to add new songs to the card. First i found that it will only recognize the newest date for example, a month ago u created a file put some songs on there, then last night u create a new file and put songs on CF , now u put that in your car it will only recognize the new stuff and not the old or vice versa .I had to take the following steps:

1 Create New Folders on PC,(Folders Must have Same Date)
2 Transfer Music from CF and PC in to the new folders on PC No more than 199 per folder
3 Delete and Reformat CF
4 Transfer Files From PC to CF
5 Install in car

After doing this Everything Worked Perfectly!!
If its just a cpl songs i rely on my ipod , but if its like a cpl Albums or something i do this method

Reformatting to FAT32 did the trick - now it works fine. It's the same card I've used for years so I don't know how the formatting changed, but oh well.
Another weird thing that I don't know if it is common. When a song stars the time elapsed of song on the display never starts at 0. It's random - sometimes it will start at 5 or 6 seconds and sometimes over a minute. Weird.

I don't have experience with this.. but it sounds like something went wrong when transferring the songs. Either the mp3's need to be fixed or re-encoded. The CF card has errors on it. Or transferring them in huge bulks are causing errors on the card. Try transferring them by artist or album instead of just a big bulk of songs. Also make the card has no errors on it by doing a disk scan on it. Good Luck
