Make my car faster

Make my car faster
Hello, this is my first post on this site and i have 2008 infiniti g35x sedan thats completely stock. I am only 17 and my parents wont let me put any modifications on my car that make my car faster. My question is is there anything I can do myself to make it quicker. I have about $600 I am willing to spend. I've looked into cold air intakes, new exhausts, plenum spacers and a new computer chip but none of these things seem like things I can do myself with little knowledge in car modification. Just looking for a little advice on what I can do.
Thanks, Bill

it is not a hp thing, it will make you faster in the corners and more fun to drive. i got more out of the suspension thing i have done than the pure hp mods. when you modify the motor you run into unexpected problems and then you have to fix them. all of my suspension parts i never had a problem with them. and btw i only mildly modified my motor.

Please do some research before just posting questions. All of them are answered in many previous threads. You got your advice about suspension upgrades, now please do some searching in this forum for them.
There are way too many reposts about the same thing. As for making the car faster, it doesn't really make the car any faster. You just have a better feel around corners, but it won't actually do much in terms of performance. It actually would make your ride harsher. For $600, the only upgrade you can really do is sway bar upgrade or spring upgrades,

It's no problem, but I would just say if you're looking for the best suspension mod for your money, just upgrade your sway bars. I installed Hotchkis sway bars for around $430 including installation.
The cons are that you will hear quite a bit more clunking/noise from your suspension, and your sway bar endlinks will fail prematurely as well as a harsher ride, so it all depends on what you want. The pros are that the car feels more stable in a turn (less swaying.)

Please don't take this the wrong way, but your questions and responses are really reflecting quite a bit of naiveté on your part. That's perfectly ok, and to be expected for someone your age, but it does make it a bit difficult to give meaningful advice since you may not really be able to receive it. Seems you've got your mind already made up and are just looking for someone to point you in the direction of what you already decided you want.
So at the risk of repeating some of what's been said, sounding like an old fart, and possibly not getting anything across here, I will offer you this:
Your car has an enormous amount of power already; more than 95% of the drivers on the road would really be able to use properly. You don't need more power!
Your suspension is very capable; with more handling ability than 95% of the drivers on the road would really be able to use properly. You don't need better suspension!
To be perfectly honest, what you really need is skills; skills that come from experience and maturity. There is only so much you can do to gain those skills on public roads. If you really want to make an appropriate (lifetime) investment in your car to make it faster and handle better, pay heed to the sagely advice:
" FIX THE NUT BEHIND THE WHEEL FIRST". By investing in your driving skills, you will not only be safer for you and everyone else around you, you will indeed be able to be faster in your car because of it. (and hopefully, you will also gain the appreciation for when and where it is appropriate to do so)
Bottom line: Take your money and invest in some performance driving instruction.

Extremely well put VQSmile.
Billy,
I have been driving for 33 years and the G35 I have is one of the funnest cars I have owned. Adding modifications will gain you VERY little in extra performance. On average it costs $100 per horsepower to upgrade things so your money will not get you anything even remotely noticeable. Learning HOW to drive is the best possible thing you can do. If you can find a good performance or defensive driving course, your skills will improve greatly. Until you are ready to drop THOUSANDS of dollars for speed enhancements, it is best to spend hundreds of dollars on improving the stability of the car or its handling.
