My rear wheel is getting cooked!

The rear driver rim is much hotter than the other 3 wheels after a drive. I can even feel the radiated heat by standing by the wheel. I think it is mostly because of the locking rear brake. I just did the brake fluid flush hoping to help the problem but it didn't change anything. After a short drive about 10 miles, my rim is still hot. Do you guys know any quick fix for this issue other than replacing the whole caliber?

Thanks.

You must have a frozen caliper, that and the rotor may need replacing. You could go to Nissan or find a independent brake shop in your area. Hurry your issues won't get any better only worse!

Yes I understand. Tires plus tried to call 3-4 stores to ask for the rear caliber in order to get my car fixed right away but no one has it until tomorrow. I am 40 miles away from home. What can I do?!?!

Short of swapping out the caliper, you could pull the glide pins and see if there is any lube left on them. Pop the pads out and see if one is substantially more worn than the one the other. Then generously relube everything and see if it makes any difference or not. There was just another poster here recently who had a very similar problem (Anton Chigurh IIRC) and I'm pretty sure he ended up having to replace the caliper in the end.

As for being 40 miles from home, well ... that's what AAA is for I guess.

It just happens on one side so pretty much it is a seized caliper. I once had this issue on the other side and both rear calipers were replaced by Infinity dealer. Now, after about 20k miles it comes back again on the other side. I wonder if anyone ever reported this issue to Infinity/Nissan? It is very unreliable to me that a 50k car has to replace brake caliper twice.

I ordered 2 new calipers, rotors and pads from this guy on ebay.

What do you think? Does anyone here has experience with this seller?

^^ If you're going through calipers, it sounds more like your fluid is/was contaminated.

Are you suggesting me doing a brake fluid flush every 20k miles? Considering my car now is 49,500 which is not even at 50k mark and the new calipers from Infiniti haven't reached 20k miles yet.

NO, you mentioned that you JUST did a fluid change (but it didn't help), but I have no idea whether it was ever changed before that. I'd hope that it was one when the 1st caliper was changeed, but I didn't assume. If your '07 was an early build, then the fluid could potentially have been in there for over 6 years! Brake fluid should normally be changed by time (2-3 years), not by mileage, so 20K means nothing. If it took 5 years to do so, it would basically be way overdue.

I'm not sure if the Infiniti dealer changed the brake fluid when the replace the rear calipers. It has been about 3 years and I don't have the receipt any more. Even the seizure was caused by a 3 years old brake fluid, it is still a liability issue to me. There are many other cars that are still running on 5 years or older brake fluid with no caliper problems. Well, I guess you better stick to the maintenance guide when you got a luxury car.

Nah, I think I'd tend to agree with your idea about the 5 years on brake fluid with no problems. It's just that your car seems to have a particularly unique problem of having had two failed calipers, so I was just looking for a logical explanation for the anomaly. What I DO NOT think, is that the failures were caused by either the Infiniti brand being bad, or that luxury cars need to you to stringently stick with the maintenance guide. Contamination is contamination, IF your car had it, AND IF it was even the cause, it's hard to say exactly why; most likely just rotten luck or possibly some debris from a dirty component used in the system (perhaps since asssembly). Not exactly what you wanna hear, but yeah, I think I'd want to make darn sure the system was thoroughly flushed after this replacement. There's nothing typical about the issues you're experiencing though.
