Any maint. to look at around 60-70K?
Any maint. to look at around 60-70K?
I just hit 61k on my 08X and I want to make sure I am keeping up or looking at things that may need some maint. before I get into issues. I will review the manual as well, but I was just hit by a huge $2900 hit getting the tranny rebuilt in my truck and now it has me paranoid on making sure the G is up to speed.
I change the oil every 5k, the brakes were all done within 15k, throttle body cleaned. I don't believe I have had any other fluids changed.

The 08 G was ranked by Consumer's Guide as one of the most reliable/trouble free Gs in existence.
Other than routine maintenance (fluid changes), I think you will be fine.
Fluid Changes beyond just oil (I'm assuming these were done at the correct intervals) I'd recommend include:
-Transmission drain and refill (you must use Matic-S/J)
-Replace brake fluid (every 2 years)
-Replace Power Steering fluid
-Drain and Refill Radiator Fluid
In addition:
-air and cabin filters
-Have your battery tested as these go south every 4-5 years
-Have the compression rod bushings checked as these are a weak spot for the previous generation (not sure if they were on the 2nd gen as well)
-The front and rear swaybar endlinks are another weak spot on the previous generation, so you may want to have those looked at as well. Lubricate the bushings at the same time.
-My guess is that the brakes may need to be checked again as well.

The 60K mile service is almost exactly as the 30K, all fluids and filters. With that kinda mileage you need to check the suspension, belts and tires closely. We all replace wiper blades when they quit working, that's easy.

Just have the dealer do the 60k service. It is cheap for what they do. Flush coolant, new fluid in tranny, front and rear differential fluid, transfer case fluid, oil change and filter, Lube all locks and hinges, replace air intake filters, replace in cabin air filter, replace engine belts, replace radiator cap, replace wiper blades, rotate tires, and they inspect a whole bunch of other wear/safety items.
I called 3 dealers around boston and they all quoted $550-$600 for the parts and labor.
I would be hard pressed to get all of these parts/fluids for a price low enough (with quality that meets of exceeds OEM) to justify doing all of that myself. Not to mention, these guys are seeing this stuff day in day out. They will immediatly know if something is getting ready to wear out.
IE, bearings should be checked as they are covered under the powertrain warranty and fail very early.
So you may pay someone $200 in labor but it will take you half a day to get through all of that stuff if you have done it before and work quick. If not I would plan at least a full day. The in cabin air filter alone will prob take an hour for the first time alone.
I have 52k miles and need new wipers. Once my oil needs to be changed I am going in for the 60k service. Oil and wipers would cost me $100 alone if I do them myself.

Well I agree on some points. The cabin filter took me like 20 minutes to swap. Also I change my oil with Mobil 1 and a Wix filter which runs me $30 and wiper blades were around $17. Anyway I will look into it as an option. I just get worried when the dealer quoted me $40 to install my air filters! I will break down the cost. Good idea. Thanks

$100 to do oil and wipers yourself? Are there 24k gold flakes in that oil and diamonds encrusted on those wipers?
As an example, check out infinitiglencoe.com service. Their 60k is $1,130 and for that it appears you get a drain and refill of 3-4 quarts tranny fluid as a flush is optional and it's unclear if they do a front diff change. I bet a 16-qt flush would be another $300-$400. Of course there are questions of whether it should be flushed at all. I did it with no problem and very smooth shifting.
Well I called 3 dealerships and ran through the entire list with them to assure everything was included. Could the service manager have been confused at 1 shop? Yes. All 3? Highly unlikley. When I bought a new key fob last weekend, the shop manager even said, we really do not make money on that service, it is an excellent deal.
Well synthetic oil and filter cost $45 at walmart. Wipers are at least another $40. Then you have to make a second trip out to an oil dump off location when you are finished. That is if you already have the oil catch can which I need a new one at $10. So $95 plus the $4 for the gallon of gas I will use to go dispose of the waste oil.

Rather than having the Infiniti stealership empty your pockets give Nissan a call, they charge 30% less for the same service and in my opinion there mechanics are better trained. AT trans service, there's no reason to do a flush! Nissan once recommended a flush at 100K miles, now they're on the fence about that. Drain/Fill will take care of your trans service, however if you live in a hot climate I'd do a drain/fill every 10K miles....I am!

As much as I despise the downfall of the American economy (Walmart) Mobil 1 is $22 for a 5qt jug. The wiper inserts were actually if I recall less than $20 from the dealer and they put them in for that price. My filters run about $7/each for a Wix filter from Rock Auto. I understand your position as well but for me I have the used oil ready to go for next time I need to go to Wally World to grab more oil. I drop off and buy another jug for the next round. Plus I installed a Fumoto valve so changes are a breeze. Have them installed on all my cars past and present.
