Mounting high behind the tint band may reduce the laser signal somewhat, but it reduces the sunlight contamination by the same amount. The result is an unchanged laser-to-sunlight ratio from the scene beyond your vehicle, but with reduced hood reflections owing to a higher vantage point—a net gain. Only in the dead of night would a just-below-the-tint-band mounting position be beneficial.

Ao sounds like mounting above tint line is fine. Thanks

Only one correct way to mount and install a valentine. Stops wasting money on a FREAKING phone cable that is priced roughly 20x what it is worth. Stop paying for mounts when the one included in your radar package is perfectly fine and level. I would recommend buying the valentine savvy for installation simplicity and filtering capabilities.

Anyone who even tries to view the display on that side is just flat out stoopid for even trying to get their eyes off the road. If you look at the picture previously attached and the picture I am reattaching again. You will see the valentine concealed display that redirects all output to a remote location. A location right in your field of view and right in front of the speed cluster. This makes it extremely easy to hit the mute button, mount the radar up high for getting long range hits and out of the heat / thieving eyes. Well worth the $35 I spent on the Concealed Display.

There is no point to even trying to get any sort of laser reception with a RADAR detector and that is why you should not choose a laser optimal mounting but instead choose radar optimal mounting. Pick up a laser interceptor if you are wanting to suppress laser and make the cops life miserable.

edit: If you choose the driver side mirror you will be blocking the rear antenna when you put your visor down unless you are putting it in the middle of the windshield. I prefer it on the passenger side and would move the toll tag on the other side if you have to. I don't have passengers all the time and if they are in the seat and decide to put the visor down. I know that my radar rear reception will be partially compromised. You want clear sight along with as high as possible for best radar reception.

you do realize the mounting and concealed display go hand in hand. You buy the concealed display so you can mount the radar anywhere you want without having to worry about being able to see the display. When you use the CD the display on the radar is dead. There by making it impossible for folks behind you to see the display (cops) or trying to use you as a rabbit for speeding. You are thinking the CD is an optional accessory but it is a necessary accessory for remote mounting away from the drivers view. No point of getting a CD if you are going to have the radar in your field of view and in a poor location. Your choice and enjoy your new toy.

Man, you can never get away from trolls.

Anyway, I'm on the verge of buying a V1 too, so I'm interested in seeing how the stealth cord wires up.

Using the Hardwire/Directwire cord kit included with Valentine 1 and the add a fuse kit is the safest way to go. Using a StealthCord may cause electrical problems in your mirror since it is sucking up extra amps from a mirror. I hardwired my Escort Redline to the fusebox and wired it around my pillar so the wires are concealed, and then the wire travels through the mirror so it looks professional and nothing sticking out.

This method is the safest method and will not void your warranty.

Also, not to TC, but have any of you considered an Escort Passport Max or Redline?

just installed and went on a run down the highway...i see a cop car coming the other way but nothing happened so he must have had nothing on. We don't the highway and it read the SLOW DOWN sign that gives of Ka readings always. Measures it from behind for a while as well.

When i got to an intersection..the thing went nuts. 4-5 bogies all at full bars from all directions. But reading the instruction manual...and where i was ( 3 banks, gas stations, super markets..car dealers ect) it's to be expected.
