Passenger side Dash Rattle fixed!

My 2008 G35 had a really annoying rattle in the passenger dash since I bought it. It wasn't a constant thing, it was a loud rattle when going over train tracks or certain bumps. I removed the glovebox, air filter, played with the climate control fan and could never find what was causing it.

The car started cranking slowly over the last couple days so I figured it was time to replace the original battery. When I went to remove it I found the rear battery hold down hook was just loose enough to move around and rattle and it happens to be directly in front of the hole through the firewall that the climate control draws air through. With the battery hold down tightened properly the rattle is gone.

And thanks Infiniti for making changing the battery three times harder than it should be with all the plastic covering crap.

replacing the battery is just like any other car, right? no special procedure?

There is nothing special about the battery part - just a positive and negative terminal like any other battery. The pain in the *** part is that the hole in the battery cover isn't big enough to get the battery in or out through so I needed to remove all the battery cover trim, the cowl trim at the base of the windshield and move the harness and fuse holder in the battery compartment. This isn't really hard, just inconvenient; it's way more than I would want to deal with if I was trying to change the battery on the side of the road on a cold rainy day. The terminals and hold down were all 10mm and I'd suggest a keeping ratchet over a wrench in the trunk if you think changing one in the Autozone parking lot may be something in your immediate future.
