Sticky Dashboard, wet carpets!
Sticky Dashboard, wet carpets!
Hello, just bought a used 2008 G35 sedan. After driving it for a couple of months I've noticed 2 big issues. For one, the whole floor matt seems to get wet. It doesn't seem as if it's leaking from anywhere? I've read a few threads on this and will check the a/c drain and HVAC drain. Does anyone know where they are located?
Also, the dash board is sticky. At first I thought it was some kind of armor all or protectant but upon closer inspection it seems as is the dash is melted? Has anyone experienced this? Besides a new dash is there a fix?
Thanks!

if the seal around the windshield is bad you will hear a whistling noise. on my last car the guy who replaced my windshield did a shitty job and it whistled any time i was at speed.
Is the water in the front foot well only? in the trunk? everywhere?
As for the drains i am not sure where they are in your car but in my corvette it is in the passenger side front foot well.

... Thought it was armor all or some kind of protectant..As for the carpet, it gets wet everywhere, that's why I doubt its the windshield seal.
Thanks for the help guys, seems like I found 2 spots that are leaking. Spotted some rust on the firewall right under the steering column assembly (from the inside). Also, the a/c drain seemed to be leaking in the car. I can now see a steady flow draining underneath the car. At least the floorboards are ok.
Concerning the dash.. it's a defect on some cars.. I have an 07 and my dash is sticky.. There is no way to fix it.. unless you replace the whole dash and the infiniti folks want about 1000 to 1700 to replace it..
