Another goodbye and thank you thread.
Another goodbye and thank you thread.
It's been great over time learning all that this forum and it's member's kindly offered to G owners. I sold my '07 sport sedan 6mt to the dealer and got a lease on a '14 Q50 premium. I'll say that I've not spent one second without remorse since the transaction happened, but I'm hoping it'll improve over time. The Q is a "nicer" more refined and modern car, but everything about the actual DRIVING experience, from an enthusiast's standpoint, the '07 sport just blows it out of the water. The same things that make the G relatively unrefined and touchy to drive (at least the manual trans) make up the intangible "edge" that makes you love driving it, the actual driving experience and not the fancy buttons and displays and technology and heated and cooled this and that. A manual G is like commandeering a beast (relatively speaking, I realize it's not 500+ hp), the auto Q is like taking a seat and having the car drive you around. I knew all this going into it but it's sunk in fully now.
With all that said, I turned 30 recently. I have an family, friends and a girlfriend that all don't understand why one would spend on a near-luxury sedan and opt for a manual transmission (not to mention, most of them couldn't drive the G if needed).
Now all that said, if there's anyone out there considering going with a '13 G vs a '14 Q, don't let my remarks sway you into thinking the G is a better car comparing 7sp vs. 7sp. Drive both and decide if the "edge" of the G is more favorable in your mind than the more refined, modern, and technologically capable Q. I didn't get the chance to drive a hybrid but if you have the money, definitely test that model out too.
Lastly, THANKS to everyone for all the efforts spent helping others/sharing knowledge on this forum. I saved a lot of frustration, time and money learning stuff here.

Nice review and thanks for posting it
IMO Infiniti put too much emphasis on tech and left some of what makes these Gs so great off the list
Hopefully they'll get some of it back w/ a few updates.

A true car lover.
I recently got an Audi A7 and gave my wife the G35, and the way the G drives is still an enthusiast car.. even the A7 with its Supercharger is "too smooth" ... the G35 is an amazing drive..

Thanks for all your responses, much appreciated!
I plan to keep the Q stock other than replacing the 17''s with larger wheels, probably oem Infiniti wheels from a different vehicle 18''-20''.
I didn't test drive anything else besides the Q and the G37 awd. Wasn't even compelled to get rid of the G but they offered a zero down deal on a lease and gave me a good price on my trade-in, I walked in there the last day of the year.
Best of luck to everyone, and enjoy your awesome rides! Will stop in once in a while to see what's going on in the G world. Wouldn't rule out owning one again sometime!

I can't get by the steering in the Q50. Literally ruins the car for me..
But I think the hydraulic steering in my non sport G is noticeably worse compared to my sport 6MT 08 G lol. I miss my 6MT G. I could definitely see myself buying another but I am tired of the Infiniti brand. What I look for in a car isn't what they offer anymore these days..
