2008 g35s Clutch
2008 g35s Clutch
Hi guys, my clutch is starting to slip and I am looking for a replacement. It seems as though JWT clutch and flywheel combo kit is a popular choice, but I am not a fan of clutch clatter and I don't participate in track days. So I would like to stick with a OEM replacement, the dealer wants to charge $2850 for the replacement. To me this seems kind of high, so I'm thinking of ordering the clutch and flywheel and having a local mechanic install it. Is the 2008 g35s clutch and flywheel the same as the previous sedans/ coupes? And is there any other parts that I am overlooking?
Any help is appreciated!

hey, i just saw your post, I have the jwt clutch and aluminum flywheel, i had an oem concentric slave cylinder installed at the same time. It failed within a month or so. I replace it with a z speed heavy duty aluminum slave and it has been perfect since. As the labour is a big part of the cost, I recommend getting the z speed csc and do it right the first time. The oem csc is a glass filled nylon molded piece that simply can't handle the force from the heavy duty pressure plate on the jwt clutch . having said all this z speed had some very nice south bend clutches and flywheels as well as other options that if I had to start over i think i would look into which options would be best for you.
there is also a bit of bumpy/jerking that i get when my engine is cold, I think this is from the lightweight flywheel. once the engine is fully warmed up it goes away, gets smooth. I do love how i can blip throttle and downshift smoother/quicker now, as i used to find i was 'waiting' for the engine to spin up or down as i was shifting. but whichever clutch you get, the z speed hd csc is a MUST in my opinion
clarification
I don't experience any clutch chatter at all the jwt has been smooth to engage since new. the bumping/jerking I experience is a cold engine issue which goes away once it has fully warmed up. I am in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. it is cold here all the time!! lol actually we are just melting now (yes in April, and have had snow since Oct of last year) I doubt that folks in warmer climates would notice the cold startup/shakes thing... it feels like driveline backlash when holding a steady throttle speed, if i apply more gas it goes away, it also seems to not happen at higher revs so i often drive 3rd till its fully warmed up.

I also have the jwt clutch and flywheel plus z speed throw out bearing. The chatter is not that bad and you don't notice it after a little bit. I totally agree about the need for the hd t/o bearing. It makes the clutch usable and I have a lot more confidence that the bearing isn't going to fail at any moment. Take a look at the southbend clutches as well. They are the only thing powerstroke diesel guys use for a reason.
