Lowered Springs Ruined Shocks...

Hey there,

first time on here and I need a little advice...

Last summer I bought Eibach Pro Springs because I didn't have the money for a solid set of coils. Now the front of my car bounces quite a lot whenever there is a bump. Should I be looking to get new shocks or save up a little more for coils?

Im unclear to whether they will both resolve the issue of the front bouncing. My budget is max $1000, cheaper (if possible) if I can solve the problem with a set of shocks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Lowering springs will shorten the life of shocks... Save and get a decent set of coil overs....

Choices!

If you're at the ride height you like get a set of KYB shocks, they'll give you a OE ride. Only advantage to coil overs w/b adjustable ride height. Would that be worth an extra $500+?

I lowered my sedan with springs about 1", my sport shocks lasted about a year after than. I got a set of Tokiko D-spec's and never looked back. They are guaranteed for life.

I think progressive springs like Eibach with brand new OE shocks will still give you a bouncy ride. I think that's where linear springs like Swift or the ones in coilover kits have the advantage. That said, Koni sport struts/shocks do a great job in controlling the bounciness of Eibach springs with it's greater damping and adjustable rebound and still gives you a pleasant ride. Koni's are not cheap though. For the same price, you could go to Swift springs and KYB shocks--although the drop will not be as much. I think the problem with Eibach springs also is that the drop still settles (sags?) even well past a year after I've had them on.

Sorry for the sidetrack, but where did you get your exhaust/what kind is it?

FWIW I'll be getting Swift springs. I had a progressive setup on my last car, and the bounciness got unbearable.

I supposed the shocks are tuned for stock spring rates. With a stiffer spring rate, the stock shock would be under damped, enhance the bouncy ride.

^^^ The exhaust is an HKS axle back

And I definitely want a stiffer ride because my stock shocks now give me so much bounce. Would getting a pair of solid coils like tein or H&R solve the bounce for good? Because if I'm having to replace the shocks every year its worth is for me just to suck it up and buy the coils now...

Thanks

Edit: Megan and BC look like the only coils with camber adjustments for my model

Gary hit it. The kyb sets work really well with the eibach pro kit. That's the setup I have. About $350 for all 4 if you do it yourself. They offer a stock-like ride but I believe they're 10-20% stiffer so they handle the drop better. I've been running this for about a yearwith no issues to the shocks. I remember reading somewhere that kyb will still honor their warranty with the pro-kit, but I can't be certain.

I don't know where you are reading from, but no coilovers will have camber adjustment on the g35/37, since we have 4 shocks, and not struts. The shocks are not an integral part defining the suspension geometry, so you can't adjust anything with changing shock attachment points.

Megan and BC are not solid shocks.

I would vote for something like swift or eibach springs mated to koni or bilstein shocks, or bilstein or kw coilovers. So suspension is kind of complicated. spring rate has to do with ride height. shock curves must be mated to spring rates, and they aren't linear like springs so really hard to compare.

We have shocks in back and struts in front. But, yeah no camber adjustability from either.

I've heard h&r coils are firm as hell

Sorry I meant damping, don't know why I said camber

In a perfect world I would put 2k into coils for like a set of HKS but unfortunately I'm on a tight budget. School takes most of my money right now so I can't buy everything I want. Im already trying to buy a Berk HFC too so I can't spend $800+ to fix the bounce. If I bought a set of Tokico D-Spec shocks would this cure the bouncing and give me a stiffer ride?? Im comfortable with the current ride height.

we do not have struts in the front. we have a multilink, really a modified double a arm with two separate bottom arms. the front is a shock, not a strut as it does not define the geometry.
