Anyone have experience with rear bumper covers that look like a stock bumper?
2008 G35x Sedan
I've scuffed mine up bad over the years and I'm looking to replace it. I saw :

I figure, buy this cover, have it professionally painted locally and then install myself. I haven't seen any guides on installing rear bumpers, anyone aware of how complex it is?
I think this would run me close to $500 total, where as a new factory bumper runs closer to $1100-1200 total. I considered going aftermarket, with a different look. But the rest of my car is stock and not sure it would make much sense.
Dent Magic was around $850 and a more reputable body shop was $1150 (OEM Bumper - Infiniti).

I wouldn't buy a cheap POS bumper like that for anything I drove, the price is low for a reason! You can either go with an aftermarket bumper from our Marketplace under vendor exterior or buy one from your local Infiniti wrecking yard and have it repainted...Gary

^ whs. I would try to get one from a junkyard and have it repainted by body shop.
A new OEM bumper is only like $120 more than the one you quoted for the aftermarket one. Might as well spend that extra $120 for peace of mind. In fact, the rear OEM bumper from infinitipartsusa.com is only $337 plus shipping and tax.
Why do you need to replace the bumper anyways? A scuffed bumper should be reparable with just a sand down and repaint. Unless you have irreparable damage, like cracks, creases, and warping, you should be okay with repairing the damage. It will look as good as new.
If you are being quoted $1150 for a new bumper and repaint of it, that is way too much. Usually for that price, they also include blending with the quarter panel. Around Boston area, a bumper repaint is only $350-450 from a reputable body shop with lifetime warranty for paint.
