polishing stock aluminum wheels

This just came up to mind has anybody polished there stock rims, i have a g35x with the OEM 17" has any one polished rims before to give it that chrome look to them? Thought it would be cool what would be required other than a lot of time lol

Those wheels actually have paint on them so I don't know if polishing will do anything. I could be wrong.
