2007 g35X Radio
Problem:I have an issue with the radio in my 2007 g35x where it will randomly shortcircuit before returning for a bit and then the cycle repeats. However about 30 minutes after having the car on, it does get 100% better and my radio no longer shorts. When it is shorting, it will also sometimes randomly omit a high pitch screech.
Background:I thought it might have been faulty wiring or speakers or something, but since im not a mechanic i took it to a car audio shop. They said all the speakers work and its gota be my radio, so they wana put in an aftermarket radio for me for $760. Im a college student and cant afford that at all, so I paid them the $50 for looking at it, and decided to do it myself (I'm a computer scientist and am very good at electronics and technology).
Possible Solution (WHAT I NEED HELP WITH):Long story short, I don't know whether to replace the radio with an aftermarket and to 3D print the install kit (I plan on replicating the OEM mount, and modifying it to allow for the sized screen I want) since my school has such large 3D printers, or to just replace the radio with another OEM radio from a junk yard. I have done a decent amount of research and i cant find anyone who has fabricated their own aftermarket kit, or even attempted to connect an aftermarket radio, is this because doing so would be that difficult? Also I was wondering if i did go down the aftermarket path, how would I get the temperature control to display on the radio screen? I am quite partial to this radio: http://http://www.ebay.com/itm/Andro...item4d2339f9a6
Let me know what you guys think.
