Well i will for surely look at everything before they do anything, ask questions along with comparing both the left and right sides. i cant see them beating around the bush like that, its a mom and pop shop that has been open for 52 years now and business is always off the hook (pass it just about everyday).

So ur saying these part websites dont sell just the knuckle (if that is the only problem)?

Im not an after market type of guy so i will go with the oem because the price difference is usually nothing crazy.

It has to be #1 in the diagram im guessing, which is only $298 and the bushings that are needed with it (if not included) couldnt be too much $. Here are the links of what im talking about, I dont know how to tag pictures on this forum, the normal " <img src=" "> doesnt seem to work.

(Second link that feature the pricing, part # ect... says #6 but #6 and #1 are the same thing on both diagrams (i just posted one of the 2 diagrams) )

Is an estimate of $1200 a lot for this fix? They will obviously have to do an alignment too but thats nothing.
Was the knuckle fractured/snapped? It's a pretty stout piece, so if it snapped, it seems like there would have been a tremendous amount of force placed on numerous other mount points and locating members also. Hopefully the shop you went to is knowledgeable enough to access for less obvious damage/distortion. Also, did they check the rear wheel? I can't imagine that it's not at least bent. It's hard to say whether that cost is reasonable or not without knowing the full scope of what all will end up being included in that. A quick hint if you do go shopping for parts: always check to see if the part number is shared with a Nissan branded vehicle, and if it is, look at sourcing it from a Nissan supplier. Usually, whenever you say Infiniti, the price goes up, even if it is the exact same factory part. I will say that if you do get out of this jam for $1200, you're lucky!

Here's a quick google of an equivalent Nissan knuckle (i.e. exact same part #).

BTW, I always use Sewell Infiniti's online parts site for viewing all parts breakdowns ( http://infiniti.sewellparts.com/oem-...edan-2007.html and http://infiniti.sewellparts.com/oem-...edan-2007.html ), then get the part number, then shop for best pricing on google.

i will get back to u if it was snapped or fractured, i guess snapped would be better right? Meaning better to snap a one part quick and easy than fracture it with a lot of strain which the other parts might have absorbed.

Yea like i said i want to examine everything and ask questions before anything is set in stone. And im aware of infiniti jacking up the price for a nissan part, i just didnt know which or what year 350/370z my g35 was equivelant to.

Honestly, in this kind of a situation, that could be either a lifesaver or a nightmare.

Yeah, I was also kinda worried that they may just be seeing that it's bent/twisted or something, but not seeing everything else that might be too.

It's not like there is a particular equivalent Nissan car per se(sold in the states anyway), so all you need to know is the actual part number that you need, then just use google to shop for it or try searching for it directly at the online Nissan parts sites. It's kind of surprising sometimes to see the variety of models and years that use the exact same parts.

Ok yea because im not familiar with the Z's and the years their body style has changed and stuff (assuming that when they get a new look nissan also somewhat improves parts even though they may look quite similar).

But like u said some parts just dont change throughout the years which is surprising but good at the same time because them not changing the style part means they gotta be doing something right

Won't be able to tell that until they get it on the alignment rack.

Alright i got a call back from the shop and first thing i asked that if the knuckle was fractured or broken and they said it had been bent. They said they will be replacing the upper control arm and the knuckle for around 850 all together. Yes these are used oem parts. Im praying when they put it back together and do the alignment that everything else is fine.
