Hi guys, I have an infiniti g35 2008 and since I've purchased it a year ago I still have difficulties adjusting to the floor hinged accelerator. I find it to be in an awkward position on the floor and the overall configuration doesn't harmonize well with my ankle. Pressing the accelerator in this car already requires a lot of finesse as it is...doesn't help that I have to point my foot in the most awkward angle to hit it correctly.

Seems like a petty issue I know, but on long drives I often get arch pain from it and I tend to either launch too hard or not hard enough from a stop light.

Just seems to me the accelerator is in such an unnatural spot, and it isn't ergonomically friendly (not hating but most of the interior elements in this car are indeed lacking in good ergonomics, and the accelerator is most definitely one of them).

Most cars you don't even have to think about where to place your foot on the pedals. The position of the gas and brake is just coordinated to match well with the movements of your foot, and you just step on it without thinking. This car however is not like that. Kinda annoying. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Any tips? Thanks.

 

I dont find it too bad personally, but i do have issues with the first inch or so of pedal travel being vague and it usually ends with me pushing too hard on the pedal and roaring away.

 

The pedal deadzone you're talking about is something with all 07 V36 Sedans; there's a service bulletin for it. I plan to take mine to the dealer to get the ECU flashed to the 08 version, which doesn't have that problem.

 

yeah, i'd look into the ECU flash - my '08 was built in '07 and had the initial "punchy" program (which i didn't mind, but the dealer updated it while under warranty).
as for ergonomics, i have to disagree. some of the finishing materials i question, but positioning and functionality have been great for me (i'm 6'1" @ 165lbs)

 

The gas paddle took me a little time to get used to, and doing heel-toe (for 6MT) also took a little learning curve to adapt to this car. I looked at it as just getting settled in / used to a new car. It will take a little while, but eventually you will figure it out.

 

Just like to add an update: I've since moved the seat back and adjusted the steering wheel to the furthest outward position, that's helped significantly.

 

that's a major problem I have; the pedal is vague on the low-end, and on top of everything it's a drive by wire which takes away all feel. Basically the accelerator gives you the same amount of feedback as the "R" button on the xbox controller when driving around in GTA.
