2008 G35x 90K mile. Has a stumble at takeoff between 900 and 1100 RPM. More noticeable when warm. Light pedal pressure RPMs dip as it reaches 1000 to 1100 and then is normal thru rest of RPM range.

I tried checking the trans fluid level but the readings are all over the place.

I dumped a 1/4 -1/2 quart in to see if it makes any difference. Maybe helped little bit hard to tell.... but then I started reading threads that an overfilled trans mission is bad news. Would 1/2 quart over really hurt?
I was thinking the trans would expel excess fluid if need be. Is this true for a 2008 G35 trans? Do our cars have some sort of relief valve.?

 

Draining is easy. Drain it to full.

 

Nap isn't even sure how to check the level of his trans fluid! He's better off going to Nissan and getting a trans service so it gets done right. Transmissions are too expensive to destroy adding the wrong or too much fluid since they operate on line pressure...Gary

 

I understand the proper way to check the fluid level is using the Consult to read the actual transmission temperature.

Considering the transmission hold roughly 11 quarts.....would 1/2 a quart be considered "overfilled" ???
5 quarts over definitely....0.001 oz's over prob not.....just curious what is considered overfilled for our cars.

 

Checking the transmission fluid can be tricky. Markings on one side of dipstick are for cold reading, other side for hot. I have to re-seat mine a few times and pull the dipstick up completely straight to get a good reading.

 

Honeslty, a stumble on take-off wouldn't have me looking at the transmission.

I'd prob pull the plugs and would be thinking small misfire.

 

My stumble on take off was due to a computer issue.

I initially cleaned the air intake track, including TB's, and put new spark plugs in and the stumble remained.

I took it to Infiniti and they flashed the ECU and the issue has never come back.
