How to Improve MPG

Hey I was just wondering what you guys get on average for mpg? I have been driving my 2007 Infiniti G35x Sedan very easy and light and yet I'm averaging 14 mpg.

I am strong believer into the fluids, because I do nothing else but make sure I get good/fresh fluids in the car. Engine oil, transmission fluid, rear diff oil and bearings. With all that I get around 20/21 mpg in city and highway conditions. When I take car on long road trips I do about 24/25 highway.

I'm assuming there has to be something wrong because 14mpg sounds way to low if your driving easy on the vehicle.

I've always been an observer of this site and have a learned a lot from it. Someone should chime in soon that has a lot more knowledge about our cars.

G35x sedan
1. Driving style. Less agrees ice more conservative
2. Change fluids- I run synthetic 5w-30 with lucas oil additive. It helped on my freeway driving days.
3. Change air filters- you will see a slight gain here too.

These were my big gains. I get 22 city 30hwy.

Ps forgot:
tires and pressure
Fuel system cleaner

I've only owned my '08 for 12 days now and my first tank was 16.6 mpg on a mixed commute. I tend to drive in a rather spirited manner though. That's still 2 mpg better than my old V8 BMW but I was hoping for more. Car had a full service about 5,000 miles ago. I'm gathering parts/supplies to do a full service myself next weekend. We'll see if that makes any difference. I'm doubtful. Didn't buy this car expecting to get 20+ mpg with half city and half freeway though.

I use to baby my car when i bought it brand new back in 08. I got to see 26mpg. Then modding came into play to make the car more fun to drive. 26 went to 22 because i decided to drive a little aggressive. This was all freeway driving. mix would be about 19mpg. Then i went supercharger and on a good day i can see 17-18 mpg. but i drive mostly city these days so i am only seeing 16.

First thing I suggest to check when someone says their mileage is off ... tire pressure and condition.

How are you only getting 14mpg?? I drive "spirited" and the lowest the car told me was 17mpg... What are you flooring it around everywhere? If you want max fuel savings try to keep it under 3k rpms.
