Tire Pressure Warning Light

I just recently picked up a 2007 G35S sedan. The tire pressure light has been illuminated since the day I bought it. Previous owner had the wheels stolen which were 18" OEM. 17's were installed on it from same year G35, but not from an S edition. When I start the car the light blinks for a little and stops after about 5-10 blinks but stays illuminated. I figured it would be the sensor sensing incorrect wheel size. I had the dealer I bought the car from reset and re-learn for the new wheels, but it came on again. Could this mean that it's a bad sensor or it's still sensing incorrect wheel dimensions?

The TPMS sensor doesn't sense wheel size at all. As long as the sensor is present and the receiving unit has been properly programmed for the ID # of the sensor, then it should work, regardless of whether it is on a 15,16,17,18,19, or 20" wheel.

If the dealer reprogrammed the sensors, and the system was working properly afterwards, then yes, it could be that one of the sensors has failed since then, but it could also just be that one of the tires is under-inflated too.

If the dealer never got the system to work when they were programming it, then they should have been able to tell you right then and there which part was failing.

It may be a bad sensor. I had some aftermarket 20's put on my car and the sensor light went off like you mentioned. I had my old sensors put back in the wheels and the light went away. A while later, I had a sensor go bad and the dealership identified which one it was and changed it under warranty. I hope this helps.

This definitely helps, thanks for the input. I've posted on 3 different forums and no one would give a straight answer. It was so annoying, But this is the best answer yet. I'll stop by the dealer tomorrow and have them check it out.

Either:

1. Tire pressure isn't correct.
2. Broken/missing sensor.
3. They need to be programmed.

If the light blinks for a little bit, then stays steady, it means the car isn't communicating with one or more sensors. Most likely is that a battery is dead/dying and the sensor needs to be replaced.

I have aftermarket wheels with no sensors, so I get that light every time I get in the car. When I put stock wheels on for the winter the light goes away, for the most part.
