Thoughts on no start issue
greetings all!
Heres the skinny. 2008 G35xs (68,000 miles) is not cranking. Battery has been tested, lights and accessories all functioning properly, car is recognizing key, but when you go press the brake and push the button all I get is a click from the ipdm. Replaced the starter relay because it was cheap and figured it was worth a shot. The steering wheel does not lock, which I figured was odd as well. All the fuses in the car are fine. There was a small amount of water under my battery. It's been damn cold here in WI. So, I'm leaning towards replacing the IPDM panel but thought I'd gather some insight on here. Thoughts, suggestions, and opinions are all appreciated. Thanks!

Ok so here's the deal. Im fairly new here but was having similar symptoms to what you're experiencing. I came outside a few days ago to my parking lights on and trunk popped for no good reason. Tried turning the lights off and they just would not turn off no matter what I did. Eventually everything in the car shut off... nothing would go on. Removed battery hoping it was just completely dead, brought to Autozone, had it tested and it was completely fine. I searched high and low and saw on another thread how someone mentioned they cleaned the battery ground wire and it fixed their issue. Thought i'd give it a shot. Well, low and behold... it worked. Long story not so short (i may actually make a writeup about this), your battery's negative terminal cable is a ground as I'm sure you may already know. The other end of the cable is connected to the fender via two bolts. This end was oxidized and had dust/dirt in between its surface and the metal of the car. Remove the two 10mm bolts, clean the surface of the cable's plate that lays flush on the fender metal with a wire brush / sand paper, put everything back together, and pray to the highest that it works. Sounds simple but it took me probably four hours... why? 1. Its freezing here in NJ this week and the car was dead in my driveway. 2. Have basic tools and a bit more than basic car knowledge... If I had a swivel socket I think my life would of been much easier. 3. The PWM relay box is in the way of accessing the negative cable ground bolts.. so I removed the bolts that hold the PWM relay box in place... didn't disconnect anything wires wise, but had to get it out of the way in order to access the two ground bolts. Again, a swivel socket may have eliminated the need to do this.
FYI, I didnt completely remove the ground cable from the engine bay, just took off the two bolts and cleaned it while it was still in the small space I had to work with. Much easier because the cable is zip tied in the middle. For reference, I have a 2008 g35x with 67k.
Like I said I may make a writeup for this though I forgot to take pictures as I was cold as all hell. If you've already tried this, then I just wasted my time typing this all lol If not, then I hope it works out for you as it did for me. Let me know if this solves your issue, and also any questions you may have.

Thanks for the reply. All grounds are in great shape. My next though is the steering lock out that was problematic for Zs, G37s, and Altimas. Its just odd that the steering wheel does not lock, and Ive now noticed that the trunk does not open with the FOB or with the interior switch. The car does recognize the key (all 3 keys that I have). Strange... Thanks again for the reply.
diagnoses appears to be the steering lock. problematic in some later G's, Z's and other Nissan products. Infiniti wanted $800 for the part. Thankfully Amazon had them for $500 (supplied by Nissan). Here's to hoping :-)
