My right headlamp goes on and off. Turning the steering column switch to off and on and then bringing it to auto usually turns it on. I believe the OEM part number for the bulb is 26297-9B91A and for the HID Control Unit is 28474-8992A. I have ordered a bulb and was looking to order the HID Control Unit also. Could someone in the knowledge of this confirm the part numbers? Also, the price for the OEM HID Control Unit appears to be around $375-$400 from Nissan/Infiniti on the internet. Is there an alternate that I can use that is not so expensive? I can find "used but in working condition" on ebay and Amazon for less than $100. Are these any good? Any help to this broke, retired person will be much appreciated!!! Have been stopped by the police for a non-working headlight already.

Also, when the switch is turned to off and then on, the headlight comes on but very slowly, not almost instantly as is normal. Could this be a problem with the headlight or with the ballast?

Sounds like a failed ballast. Pull out the headlights and swap the ballast. If the problem follows the ballast, swap that one.
