G35 has had headlight bulbs swapped from D2S to 9005
I went to change a burnt out bulb in my wife's 2007 G35 sedan and the Hi/Lo beam bulb has had the D2S removed and a 9005 put in it's place. A 9005 connector has been spliced on and the ballast bypassed. I put a 9005 in to replace the burnt bulb and now know why the car has always had poor headlights. I can't see the D2S connector on the ballast and wonder if it's still there. If so, I should be able to find a connector to the ballast and put D2S bulbs in, right? It does make me wonder if one or both ballasts are bad. Why else would they do that?
The car was purchased in 2009 from an Infiniti dealer as a certified car off a 2 year lease. I'm wondering if they knew.
Unused ballast connector on left side. 9005 connector spliced onto lead D2S on light cover (upside down).
