Looking to buy used - Is the galley gasket problem inevitable?
Hey guys I am looking to buy a used g35, and was wondering if there is no avoiding the galley gasket issue? I am looking to pick one up at ~120kish miles, should I expect the galley gasket to blow at any time? Does anybody have high amount of miles on their car without the galley gasket issue?
Sorry for all the questions, and I appreciate any input!

There's PLENTY of HR motors that never had a gasket issue but there are enough cases where the gasket did fail that it's common knowledge to be aware of it. If it's not spitting out errors I wouldn't be too concerned but if you will have to pay a mechanic to fix it then it's definitely something to keep in mind and you should save up some extra to get into a VHR instead of buying a 120k mile vehicle that's at the point in it's life where major maintenance items are coming up.
Spending an extra 2-3k on a vehicle up front to get into a vehicle that doesn't need struts, suspension bushings, possible major engine components, etc replaced in the near future will basically break even compared to an older and higher mileage vehicle that DOES need those things done if you're paying a mechanic an hourly rate to perform the work.
On the flip side is simply leasing vehicles, you can lease a brand new Q60 for about $375 a month and there are quite a few Infiniti models under $300/mo leased. Never pay mechanic fees or worry about broken parts ever again, if you can make the lease payment that is.
