I've looked around for information, but can't find what I'm looking for. I'm wanting to replace my steering wheel with one that is a "4 spoke" wheel (meaning I can grip the wheel directly at the 6 o'clock position without a spoke being there) and still retain the controls for cruise and the stereo. I figured that if it's possible that someone in the forums here would know about it. I'm not overly concerned if it retains the Fuji emblem, but I don't want to have a Nissan emblem there instead. Thanks for any input you might have.
It would be amazing to hold the wheel at the lowest point without that stupid middle spoke in the way.
No swap experience but hopefully other members will contribute.
I have done a full dash relocation in my SI's meaning I ripped out EVERY button and switch and fiberglassed them in and around my shifter to make room for an 12 inch touchscreen decades before Tesla. I had to extend every single wire. Wires are wires bro. Buttons are buttons. Soldering is super easy. Simple stuff.
Good luck broski ! Show us some pics of the wheel you had in mind.
I would prefer it to be more "stealth" if possible, and actually look like it's supposed to be there. In that context I'd probably try to find a QX56 wheel. I imagine it will mount just fine, curious if I would even need to rewire the plugs for the harness.
I feel like swapping wheels to a QX56 one will cause one of 2 things to happen. I'll either have to pay out the wazoo for a matching airbag, or I'll have to figure out if I can use the airbag from the G and replace the cover with one to match the QX56 wheel. I've never messed around with airbags so I have no idea if it's even possible to switch covers.
Looks sick but . Bro just buy a sparco wheel. Forget OEM bags.
The way G drivers drive, no airbag could ever save us anyways
In before "We're too old for mods" lol
I can help you wire the switches broski
Can't help with the airbags maybe someone else can
No big deal . An intact Q wheel can be had a junker for next to nothing if you find the right junkyard. RIGHT ?
All you have to do is show up with a toolbox.
Just saying.
I don't drive this crazy, but at the same time I don't drive it like a grandpa, a Sparco or Momo wheel is more "sport" than I need. The way this thing will be when done will be completely a sleeper, including the interior. I'm not worried about wiring, I can manage it easy enough, I would just rather avoid it if possible. I'll have to look around the local yards and see what they have. Would be nice if I could get one fully intact, airbag and all. Hopefully there's no issue with the clockspring as far as compatibility goes.
Edit: looking at the wheel on the G looks like the plug will line up pretty well, so the clock spring shouldn't cause any issues.
