Fuel door help

Ok I have searched how and low for an answer but can’t find one. My gas door only opens if you push it on the right and it can be quite hard sometimes. Isn’t there supposed to be like a spring actuator that pops it open when you press it? It has the black spring on it but I don’t think it does much

Yes there is a lock actuator that extends a little plunger out to lock the gas door.

Open the fuel fill door, look at the side where the plunger is, hit your lock button on your key fob, now hit your unlock button on the key fob, does the plunger extend/retract normally? If not then unlock the car again and see if you can push the plunger back in a little. I suspect the plunger arm is broken and no longer attached to the actuator.

Pretty easy to replace the entire assembly if it's broken, you can access it through the trunk.

If the plunger is broken you can probably just pull it out easily with your fingers, the fuel door will no longer lock but at least you won't have to jimmy it every time you want to open the thing.

Your mom's boyfriend
The gas door does not open automatically.
Your door is misaligned.
Loosen both bolts.
Adjust.
Re-tighten.

The lock pin is there and it does work to lock and unlock but the struggle is when it’s unlocked you kinda have to use a credit card to pry it open. I thought there would be a spring that opens and closes when pressed.

On the V35 platform you have to push the gas flap in until it sort of clicks then when you release it opens the door for you automatically about 1/4 of the way. I don't know how the gas flap on the V36 platform functions but I assumed it worked in the same fashion.

Just push in on the edge of the hinge side. The door will open enough to pull it open with your finger from the latch side. On my coupe and the wife's Q50, if you push on the latch side, the door pops out enough to pull it open the rest of the way. The G35X never worked that way. We always had to push on the hinge side first.

I have the V36 platform so I guess I’m stuck with the current door I have. I have no clue why they would remove the spring switch from the V35 to the V36
