I havent gotten any email notification for PM's or replies to threads . I have [ I believe ] all the right boxes checked in the options to get them . I havent gotten any sonce the last re-do of the site . Can a Mod help with this please ? I had the same thing happen over at My350Z .

It looks to me like your profile is set to send you instant email notification of new posts in your subscribed threads and when you receive new private messages. I don't know what's up, maybe there's something messed up in the outgoing mail server. I haven't received any reported thread emails in quite a while ether.

Send a PM to O NO and he can either fix it or report the problem to IB.

mine has been on & off for quite a while... I hardly get any notifications on Z, hit & miss here... I've chalked it up to "just deal with it".

 

Mine have been fine though sometimes delayed a little. You guys know that you only get the first reply to a thread sent to you right? I'm guessing you do but I thought I would throw that out there really quickly.

I wonder if it has to do with email services flagging them as spam? A thought but I am not qualified to make any comment on the validity of that thought.

 

yes, I realize there is no notification for every single post - but its normally many more than just the first reply... but many times I get no email notification and I'll come across a thread that has many many replies...

I started thinking it had something to do with the numbers of responses... for example - when the MD exhaust was released there were bunches of responses... I wasn’t getting nay notifications so I figured it was because there were too many responses for the system to send notifications on... however, since then I’ve realized that’s not the issue... there have been other less active thread that I don’t get emails on sometimes (primarily on Z).

It’s not a big deal though. I can tolerate it much more than the lag issues and down time.

 

The system is set up to ONLY send the first reply on a thread until you log in and it will then send the first one again. Now, any replies while you are still logged into the system get sent as well as they are *technically* first replies since your log in.

Now, that is not to say that it accounts for ALL of your not received emails but you should only EXPECT to see the first reply on a thread until you log in again. I hope that makes sense. I had to walk away half way through lol

 

I think what you are saying is it sends email notification for the first new reply since your last log in?... If that’s the case it makes sense... I know for a fact it sends more than just the first reply to each thread (but I don’t think that’s what you meant).

In any event, what I'm referencing isn’t that scenario... but really it’s not worth the time either of us has spent (only because it’s no big deal to me, so I'm not trying to make it one).

No biggie on the time really. I would rather clarify it so we can figure out if there is a problem somewhere. It may be a problem that is affecting people and they just aren't saying anything. I wasn't sure if that was what you were experiencing or not but I was clarifying just in case it WAS the same thing. Yes, it should only send you one email for a thread until you log in again then it "resets" and will send again.
