I think the concept model had a more aggressive front fascia and hood which made it a simply a bad looking machine :coo:

The look on the clay model and sketches that have been recently released show a more subtle front - something that Lexus would make.

JMO.

 

from a purchaser's standpoint the prior pictures & clay of the prototype,etc.

looks 90% similar to the Gen 1 coupes. Granted the interior will be 90% different... but the outside imo should be changed more. I understand why
it is going to similar just dont agree with it.

I just REALLY hope they don't soften it too much. The other cars (errr, car) in its class is boring enough -- I want something that will make a statement, not blend in with the other cars. Bold, chiseled, deep cut lines (like the rockers on the concept), large fender flares, etc. -- it needs to be something different than a me-too car. The concept was borderline too tame (though great) in my book -- if they tone it down even more (which it looks like they might by the clay model), I will be very disappointed.

Granted, it is just clay, and could even have been done before the concept (we have no idea of a timeline), so I am hopeful and optimistic.

I agree with both of you. The clay version makes it look too much like the current G. I know 03-07 owners would be happy about it as theirs wouldn't look too outdated.

I saw a 07 Coupe yesterday on the road and the front bumper looked really similar to the clay version. Had to look twice to make sure it wasn't a spy 08.

I like that it is not too different. The coupe is still very clean and does not look dated when I see it out on the roads.

 

the 2008 coupe is coming out this month?

Nah, its not coming out this month. It is being unveiled at the NYIAS in April.

 

No, '08 coupe is not out yet, won't be out until June/July.
