Good to see that they are going to put the 3.7 engine from the GT-R into the '08 coupe, 320 hp is plenty for me!! Hopefully the 7/8 AT from the GT-R will also make it into the '08 G-Coupe, just wouldn't make since to develop the 7/8 AT to only use in the GT-R. This waiting is absolutely killing me, can't wait to the show!!

they are already making a smaller FX... and they might as well steal the altima coupe and up the luxury... and sell as an infiniti. would be a low cost addition !

now...

as far as the new 08 having a 7-8spd auto... imo doubt it.
if its a dsg its a no brainer... but if its a regular auto I may stick with the manual... since its the whole reason im getting rid of my auto to begin with ;!

ppp

Definitely going with the manual. Is the DSG going to be the exact same manual gearbox, except with the auto clutch like the SMG on the BMW or is it a variation of a super duper tip-tronic?

They already have...the only problem is that it's still in Japan and sold as the Nissan Skyline 250GT. I truly hope that Infiniti will see the light and offer the G with the smaller VQ25HR powerplant.

That's what I meant. I know they already have a 250GT in Japan for awhile. It used to come w/ VQ25DD. Maybe they'll bring it to the US as gas price start to head up again and they want to move the G35/37 up a little bit in price for profit reason.

Well, I do know that the New Infiniti G Coupe has some Magnesium Paddle Shifters (don't ask, I won't tell how I know ). As to how they use it, that's anyone's guess. Also, R&T already confirmed that the VQ37HR-TT (codenamed) from the GT-R will go into the Coupe (I got this from March R&T). They also mentioned a Getrag 6 Speed Transmission or the Paddle Shifters (which I have already seen, just the paddles, not the car) with either 7 or 8 Gears. Can't wait...I'm still trying to bribe the gal next to me to show me the actual pictures...maybe a lunch will get her to show me (get your mind out of the gutter!).

One would assume that the paddles from the 07 Sedan will be the same ones used in the 08 Coupe.

Yeah, and I would also say it's a safe bet that the 08 Coupe's interior will look identical to the 07 Sedan's interior. The Coupe/Sedan have always shared the same interior and options, so I definitely don't see that changing. I'll speculate that the 08 Coupe will have a factory iPod integration, which is something the current Sedan doesn't have.

FYI that was only on paper.
At the dyno there was almost *no* difference

All a marketing issue.

I still don't understand why performance that comes close to or equals the 335i is not enough for some people. Has everyone forgotten that the G35 is almost 10k less expensive than a comparably equipped 335i?

Because some people just see it that way... and make purchasing decisions based on HP numbers... and Infiniti knows this... and I think, they know they have to react. I would be surprised to see the coupe bow with less than 320 hp. But, who knows...

The G35 has always been able to say it was more powerful and had faster acceleration than the 3 series at a lower price point... which is a winning business model. But not anymore, with the 335i... so we'll see what they do.

BMW isn't stupid, and the "Ultimate Driving Machine" took it hard being beat by the 2 Japanese rivals in terms of power and acceleration. They won't let that happen again.

Just a few years ago, 911 turbos were barely breaking 5 seconds to 60mph... now your $40K entry level family sedan is hitting those numbers. Nice.

Also, the true "cost" of something has to do with it's depreciation... if both a G35 and 335i depreciate $10K in 3 years... then they both "cost" the same to the owner. If insurance, fuel and maintenance costs are about the same... then that $10K more "expensive" beemer actually cost you about the same to own for 3 years. And historically, BMWs have high resale values. I doubt it would be different with the 335i.
