"what's in a name?" - William Shakespeare

Do you really care what it's called? Make it fast enough and no one else will care what it's called either!

Infiniti would be never be taken seriously if they added such a name to their brand. Remember, its a luxury brand.

I doubt Nissan/Infiniti would be that stupid to add Nismo to the Infiniti branch!

I misread the original post. I assume we are talking about a "nickname" such as how Lexus has the "f" now and BMW has the "m". I thought we were talking about a companies aftermarket/factory parts. How Nismo is Nissan motor sports. I agree that Nismo would sound ridiculous if they put that in the name of a car.

I think that "V" would be kind of cool...if you turn the Infiniti logo upside down it makes a "V" shape, but Cadillac already has that.

The Infiniti V series...sounds badass, but already taken.

Infiniti has already registered the trademark "R Spec" which is expected to be used for their "high performance" models, although nothing official has been announced.

There's even a logo

OMGZLOLZ...

no I'm not joking. If both brands are owned by Nissan, what sense does it make to have a whole different branch just for parts and tuning?

Also, why not just forget about it completely? There's no need for a sport division for a luxury automaker when you have the 350Z and soon enough the GTR on the road as true sports cars, and not "luxury sports".

Then there's always GFY - use your imagination. Or one could use TLA - simply a three letter acronym.

Let's not fall into the same hole as Subaru and Mitsubishi.

Last time I checked, they had a model called the Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec-C RA-R. Might as well just call it the Subaru WTH since nobody will be able to remember the name.

Remember the old r34 skyline which became GT-R-> GT-R Vspec -> GT-R VspecII -> GTR VspecII Nür/ GTR Mspec Nür and they also had a Nismo R34 Ztune. Lets just hope nissan dont fall into this again at least not with the Infiniti lineup.
