Infiniti "Nismo" would be the joke of the luxury divisions. It is not a serious name for a luxury vehicle.
Also, there is a need for a sport division in a luxury automaker because, obviously, no one looking for a Cayman S or a BMW M3, is going to cross into a Nissan dealer looking for a similar product.

Does acura use the "type-R" moniker, or mugen?
Does MINI use "M"? Does BMW use john cooper works?
Does dodge or chrysler use "AMG" or MB use "SRT"?
The list goes on and on. Nismo would never work.
