G37 Will Be > Than G35 Regardless

I believe that you missed the point. The performance of turbo charged cars deteriorate after sustained hard runs and they will go into a limp mode. This doesn't mean that the coolant overheats, it just means that turbo charged engines require relatively cool operating temperatures for peak performance.

"Too bad Infiniti G35 engines eat oil, they're unreliable crap" is basically the same statement made towards infinitis....
and as Picus said in another thread, 41 BMW M3 engines blow and all of a sudden M3's have "bad engine problems" .... right

it's a long wait til they start hitting dealerships for test drives. There is no point in trying to make any conclusions as to what car will be what.
And remember, bmw can always release a special sports package for the 335i (ZHP or something along those lines), and the whole thing can change again. All the automakers are playing poker right now.

give it time, it will grow on people. i remembered when the new 94 Acura integra came out, everyone and thier mom's where screaming how acura screwed up the styling with 4 headlight designed, and now, everyone chump in town is trying to steal them and mod them.
Having not seen the G37 in person, yes the G35 is better looking. But substance is more important and the G37 will kick the crap out of the G35 in terms of performance, features, and an awesome interior. That's more than enough for me. Looks are not everything.
I love my G35, but the G37 is a step in the right direction. Why are we all hating the new G, I guarantee no other car forum is bashing the new G as bad as we are!! It's evolution, our cars will be outdated the question is will it be a classic? I think so.

However, this reminds me of what happened 2-3 years ago when the new IS250/IS350 were announced. Folks on the IS forums were saying the new design looks weak and that their IS300 looks a lot more aggressive. Now.. after a year or so.. the IS300 looks outdated.
Resale value of G35 will drop regardless (yes maybe not the first 2-3 months after G37 is out). Take a look at the old G35 sedan now.. how do you feel about it? It looks outdated to me.

That is the hottest sedan on the road.
Coupe on the other hand is total screw up.
I don't think anyone here hates the G37. The engine is amazing, the interior is awesome, the beauty is still there. The G37 is like a beautiful woman with a ok looking hair style. Fix the hair style (front bumper) and she'll be an instant celebrity. I think that's why everybody comaplins, because the G37 is so close to perfection that there is no reason why not take the one extra step.

If you drive the 335 for about 5 minutes and then test drive the G37, you'll get the answer. In head to head competition the 335 will win every contest IMO. Of course most magazines place a weight in their evaluation scale on the car's cost, so the G37 will win that battle and draw a little closer to the 335, but if you go strictly by performance I can't see how the G wins based on the info that has been released.

The thing that gets me when all these people say they "can't stand", or "hate" the new G is look at the forum numbers. Holy crap!!! This thing has more interest day-in, day-out, period. Doesn't matter if it's positive or negative, it's interest, and THAT will sell cars.
I honestly can't imagine how anyone can look at the new G and not like it if they like anything about the existing model. The two are VERY similar except the new model has been restyled a bit and doesn't look dated. Actually quite the opposite, it's very forward looking (as it needs to be, considering it'll be the new shape of the G for several years).
As has been said, the headlights look more agressive, and if you look at the bumper, so does the vent area. (IE: brake cooling vents whether they are functual or not, they LOOK like working vents and I'm sure can be made to work.) The hood lines are cleaner and the hood itself has twin latches to keep it aligned better. The fenders are a more prounounced flare and the wedge along the rocker panel looks fast just sitting still.
Add the new body to vastly improved chassis dynamics from braking to stiffness, to improved construction/rigidity and you have a winner over the existing G. If people didn't want a stiffer chassis or a better roll center then there wouldn't be such a VAST market for sway bars / coils / coilovers/ dampers etc. on the existing models.
Anyone looked at or driven the new sedan? Gotta' admit the interior features are sweet. Name even one other car that has 3-way speakers in the doors! Much less with 10" woofers!!! (This is from a guy that has designed /installed many Home Theaters and been into audio since the early 70's)
Wow, adaptive cruise control and headlights. Who would have thought? This isn't a boy toy rice burner tuner car. (Yes there are plenty of parts to make it so.) It is an honest approach at a 'near luxury' true GT 2+2 tourer. Doesn't claim to be in the league of an SL, doesn't need to be. However... it's LEAGUES above the 350Z in the luxury department. Different demographics alltogether.
We need not be 'haters' just because of that. The new G is what it is, nothing more nothing less. At least Infiniti is making new strides, setting new goals and is not afraid to keep moving forward. Can't say the same for keeping a straight 6 forever and ever. Why one might ask would you want to keep EXTREMELY old engine designs around and never move off the mark? Simple... it works, and it's torque will always be there. Just sold a 53 Chevy pickup with a straight 6 that was my Grandfathers. Yep, it had torque as well, but wouldn't want to put that engine in it if I was doing a rebuild on the old truck. HELL NO!!! Let's go with a new state of the art, computer controlled, fuel injected fire breathing V8.
What I'd like to see is a poll in July or August on how many current owners (IF THEY DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY) would take the new G over the old one. I know with the new one I'll have to finance something, not much I'm sure as I paid for my 06 cash. However, even with that I can't wait to drive the new one, and expect that it's going to cost me some chump change pretty easily.
