I have a bad feeling that the price is going to increase by a few k. But then, had the same feeling about the sedan.

If, like the sedan, i can get a fully equiped (sport+prem+nav+tech) for 39/40 k then i am sold.....


nething over 40, gonna start considering the 335i.....

the reason why i am worried is, that how they gonna justifiy to the seddan folks for a similar price but less power? unless ofcourse, sedans r getting an upgrade too....

 

It will probably be $1-1.5k more than the Sedan IMO.

 

The sedan had a minimal increase, and from what I have read and been hearing from people preordering, the coupe will also have a minimal increase. Doubt that the increase would stop anybody from buying it, they know that they can't raise the price on the G37 too much. I am hoping to be able to get one optioned out the way I want it for 37-38!!

 

I'd expect it to stay under 40k fully loaded. Infiniti should know that they cannot compete with the 335, so it should scare them out of asking that much.

 

+1, I can't see the G Coupe getting much more of an increase than the Sedan did.

I have said it looks better then the 335's, but if Infiniti wants to keep this car positioned below the 335, they had better consider all the buying options:

You're wrong. It was always base price $40,800. Anyways, how does the ED work?

From talking to some of the guys that work at my local bmw dealer they said if you wanted a 335 they were not giving up a dime on the price, too much interest.

 

Thanks for the correction. ED as I understand it is designed to be as simple as it can be, but of course I am sure people who have done it have had varrying expereiences.

You settle on the price and configuration here in the US with a dealer, and they place the order as they normally do, with the discount. After normal prodcution time when the car is ready, you fly over to Germany, get to their offices, pick up the car, drive it back to the port, use a pre-arranged shipping service to pack and send the car, and then in a number of weeks wait out the deliver at your dealership. I think you have to have applied for a temp licenses, or maybe they even provide the paperwork for you, and some have said they did it all in 1 day and flew back that night.

I think a few have said the cost of transport is not actually that high- but I am not writing with first hand knowldge.

(Of course 1 can choose to sample the AutoBahn, but I would not redline a new car myself, so I would not want to be tempted.)

Thats how I understood it as well, but my question is what is the benefit for them to do the ED? Why would there be a discount if they setup the shipping and such anyways?

 

I herd the same thing in December from a local dealer, specifically about ED-no additional discounts, but I have read some threads over at bimmerforums that claim ED w/ discount is possible, its all in the negots. Either way, that is a tougher price to compare to, even considering air and transport fees.

 

I dont think they set it up, I think you have to set it up, here is a coverage statement from the site:

* Marine insurance
* Customs duty and clearance
* U.S. port processing and accessory installation
* Wharf and handling fees

 

Last I checked, there is NOT an additional shipping charge - it's part of the ED price. Of course, you still have the added expense of a trip. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
