What about "Ha!! I'll enjoy my G35, thank you. It's a classic and no more payments!!".
Everytime I see a post about not having payments, I just assume the person can't afford to get himself/herself into a new set of wheels.

^ its always like that bro...i've seen it on every car forum you can name. The fact is they cant accept that the new models are relased with better options and pretty much gonna be better than the old models.

^ Yeah, I'm pretty sure all of us who are looking at a G37 can just as easily pick up an 07 G35c for dirt cheap, let alone an '03 for 50% that... Yet, we are compelled to spend more on the 7. Why? Obviously, because it's an upgrade!

Good point. This happened/is happening with the current E90 phase-in with BMW's. A lot of E46 people are all up in arms about it. But it just comes with the territory, no matter how beloved your car is, one day sooner or later it's gonna be the outdated model. I think a lot of the people doing the most bashing are the ones that put in a significant amount of money in their G35's and they haven't come to grips with the fact that it'll be a late model by the end of summer.Originally Posted by Wicked_limitz

I agree with you there. I have also seen it happen on other forums with several other carmakers. No matter how much better the new version of a car is, the people with the older version will always find something wrong. I guess it is human nature though, so I don't pay much attention to them.Originally Posted by tragedycat

I've seen some pictures of the 2012 G40 and the front bumper looks like cr*p. I'm holding on to my '08 and adding some mods (FI most likely). I just wish I could have the G40 engine in my G37 body.

^^^LOL!! I am totally with you there. The G40 is horrible. We should totally hang onto our G37's when the G40's come out, because ours will be classics!!

case study: Think of when the IS250/350s came out to replace the IS300. Remember how popular the IS300 Altezzas were when they came out (not so different than how popular the G35s are now)?? The people on clublexus and MyIS were whining and bashing on the new generation before it was even released.. hating the rear end.. hating the lights.. hating how it looks like its more marketed to the older crowd and that it is less agressive... saying the IS300 is a "classic" with the "unique rear and tail lights" and that it would be even in more demand.. blah blah. These are almost WORD FOR WORD the same things that are being said about the G37..
Now look what happened.. the IS300 looks horribly outdated and simply old next to the fresher, more modern 250/350, not to mention the 250/350 is way more refined and luxurious and, depending on model, performance is much improved... and mostly, the bluebook value of the 300 took a crazy hit with the new generation release.

Nah! The 37's will just be the middle of the road then. The "Red-headed stepchild" so to speak. The classics will be the first gen G's. Like the Z's, everyone knows and will look for a old 240Z. But I don't ever hear of people looking for that good old 260Z. You know the second gen Z. Things usually get better with the next great thing, I can agree to that. But you can't knock a 1st gen when it did so well coming out of the box. Yes the G37 looks good (to some, not me). But I still like my '03. I liked my '06 SRT-8 Magnum until I hit that tree. I don't like the new front end of the '08 Magnum and will probably buy something else. That's just my preferrence though. Good luck with your G37's. Gettin' off the box now. Have fun and we'll see you all on the road.Originally Posted by InfinitiFreak

Although the G37 has its pluses, I don't believe that anyone thinks that the rear spoiler and tail lights are among the pluses. In my case I'm more interested in the G 37's performance, and the jury is still out on that score, but I'm not expecting too much. The higher HP should mean some extra punch at the top end.Originally Posted by InfinitiFreak

^^ compared to the new sedan? Yeah, just slightly faster. Compared to the coupe though, it will be much faster, just like the new sedan already is.

Once I cover teh chrome spoiler with the factory optional spoler, I will be satisfied. I expect to enjoy the G37 over my current G35. But I do acknowledge that the G37 has a tough act to follow.
